power fc boost control kit. . . boost sensor

alright. . . i was reviewing a map that had a 3 bar map sensor involved with it. it was set on option 4 and the voltage settings beyond that were different. i thought that the apexi boost control kit's boost sensor was a 3 bar sensor. i know its supposed to be set on option 1, but why are the pressure settings not changed? pressure settings in regards to the rpm vs. pressure chart on datalogit. just kinda wondered.

You are correct that the Apexi kit comes with a 3 bar sensor, but just because a MAP sensor has a 3 bar range does not mean that the system is using it. Unless the parameters are also changed you are simply forced to keep your boost controlled to the lower 2 bars or risk fuel starvation at high boost. Its not that the fuel maps go to zero at higher than 2 bars, it is just that at 2 bars and above the ecu feeds the 2 bar amounts to the injectors.

Before re-tuning the fuel maps, you must reassign the upper P cell values in your maps to reflect the additional range of the sensor.

For example: If stock values are as follows

p15----->15000
p16----->16000
p17----->18000
p18----->20000
p19----->22000
p20----->24000

and you switch to a 3 bar sensor and want to use all 3 bars, you may want to change the references to something like this

p15----->16000
p16----->18000
p17----->21000
p18----->24000
p19----->27000
p20----->30000

That is the way I understand the 3 bar systems to work. I would be glad to hear from others on this subject.

okay, thats the setup i saw. . . mine are still stock, but im not using any boost and if any at all, only about 5psi. my commander is reading high knock levels like my grandmother stinks. . . which is a lot and quite putrid. i have a to4e map with damn near close to the same mods that i have, but it runs like *** in 1-3rd gear. im getting readings of 80s and 90s. its kinda freaking me out.

Knock numbers are unreliable for purposes of determining whether detonation is occurring. The 80-150s may reflect detonation, loose bolts, bad microphone, backfires etc. Where in the log files does the high knock exist? My knock levels can exceed 120 but an analysis of where the levels occur indicated that they occurred after let off from a WOT run and when the Boost is at vacuum,and both TPSV and injector duty is around idle. In other words, probably backfires.

WB measurement is the ONLY way to determine the danger zones and the meaning of the Knock readings.
