It can control the stock WG control solenoid if you still have it hooked up and working (just like the stock ecu did). The "kit" can be used if you go single, as it provides a apexi WG control solenoid.

nah your apexi boost controller kit and commander is all you will need to control your boost, single or twin.

Sorry to bring this thread back up from the dead, but I am currently looking at an Apexi boost controller that I *believe* plugs right into the PFC. How good of a boost controller is this unit? I was contemplating purchasing a Profec-B Type-S, but if this will do the job just as well, I'm all about it. My stock solenoids just aren't cutting it

Input, please! Thank you! ~A-Rod

I have the boost kit. It works just as well as a profec-B or any other simple EBC. Probably don't have the offset function like more expensive EBCs.

it comes with:
- a new Denso 3 bar map sensor. direct replacement of the stock one
- new solenoid (same as the one used in avc-r)
- plugs&wires to hook up the solenoid and stock map sensor to the PFC unit.

what it does is it uses the new solenoid, which you setup the same way as a regular boost controller, and the PFC only reads the 'primary' setting on the Commander to determin desired boost level. whether you're running sequential, parallel, single. The PFC takes readings from the 3 bar and compare it to the stock map sensor.

if you have a Datalogit you don't need the boost control kit. you can use the stock wastegate solenoid by keeping "sequential turbo control enabled" and making some minor plumbing changes.

Datalogit settings

full thread here: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/free-power-fc-single-turbo-probably-nonsequential-boost-control-846883/ Use the plumbing I posted here, the ones in the beginning of that thread are correct but somewhat misleading due to the way I had my solenoid mounted.

Is it possible to have different boost pressure on different rpm using "turbo transition"
I have a single turbo and would like to limit my boost under 5000rpm

Sort of. By controlling boost with a factory boost control solenoid and sequential turbo control enabled, setting turbo transition high to 5000 would effectively run you at spring pressure until then. That's not so precise, and I can see you getting frustrated with it. You may want to consider an AVC-R, it'll do a lot better job for what you are looking to do as long as you set it up right.

Yeah thats what i thougt and using only spring pressure from the beginning will be slow in building pressure..
