Power FC with AVC-R

-Anyone using both the Power FC as well as the Apexi AVC-R boost controller?
-Any problems using them together?
-Any special install issues?

Thanks

you can use any boost controler with the PFC as it is a complete other device, the power FC will control the fuel with the boost you give it, no matter if it is the PFC that controls it or an other device.

You just got to make sure the Power FC doesn't cut you if you want to run higher boost than stock by changing the boost control values in th PFC.

Yeah, my understanding was to set the boost level on the PFC higher than what is running with the EBC to avoid fuel cut.

Still trying to decide what way to go.

yes that's pretty much it.

On stock twins i find the pfc to do the job pretty well.

i wouldn't put money on a boost controller if you are on stock twins.

I actually just installed a AVC-R today alongside my PFC. I haven't gotten through completely tuning it. Not 10 minutes ago I was out on the road doing some 2nd and 3rd gear pulls to try and tune but I keep hitting fuel cut so I probably will have to change the boost on the PFC higher than the EBC. Other than that it works fine so far and haven't had any problems, but then again it's only been in the car for a few hours.

I am still trying to figure out where to mount it myself. Could either of you guys tell me where you ran the harness through the firewall? That is going to be the hardest part of the install for me. Also, would either of you like to shoot some pics of where you mounted the boost sensor and solenoid?

I'm going to start with the AVC-R and try and get it setup properly with 10 psi max boost (get rid of my boost spikes). Then I'm going to make some ECU changes, initially use a Pettit ECU and when I can get the car tuned, I'll install a PFC. My thought is to do it one step at a time and hopefully learn some things along the way.

what i do when i want to route wires from the engine bay to inside the car, instead of drilling a hole in the firewall, i go through the fender. Just remove the fender lining and you'll see the place that i am talking about. It works on both sides.

I took off the passenger side fender lining and I found two boots that pass into the cabin behind the ECU. One may have worked well, but I would have had to cut or drill through that boot. essentially I chickened out because I wasn't really able to see where it came in on the inside. I ended up going though around the main harness boot behind the ABS. Now the more I think about it I'm wondering if I should have been brave and pulled that one boot behind the fender lining.
