PFC repair other than Apexi?

I just got word form Apexi that they won't fix one of the two PFCs that I sent to them because it's been modified. It has the pins that go to nothing removed. Is there another place that repairs them?

Thanks!

Did they mention what the issue was?

I bought one that was sent off and they didn't want to fix it, opened it up, turns out a few traces on the board where severed. Soldered them up and where good to go.

An electronics repair shop would possibly be able to fix it if it's an obvious problem.

It all depends.

I know a guy who sent his off to somewhere in Australia or maybe NZ and it took a really long time. He had an SR20 Power FC in his 240sx.

I have time. It's just sitting on a shelf now. Can you find out where he sent it?

I tried the local places and explained the problem but they wanted a schematic of it.

They said it's against policy to repair a modified unit.

Thanks for emailing him!

Just heard back... "It was in Australia and I don't recommend using them. They took nine months! When I called him prior to sending it he said it would take a week. I recommend sending it to Apex directly. If they don't do it I guess he has no other choice but to send it to Austria. The guy is Trent Whyte at Mercury Motorsport. trent at mercurymotorsport dot com dot au "

Thanks for getting the info. It sounds like a last resort. I'll wait a little and see if I can come up with something else.

Update. I had the PFC repaired by Peter Florance at PFTuning.com. He did a great job. Good communication and the price was the same as Apexi. The turn around time was about a month but I did tell him to take his time on it as I wasn't in any hurry.

I knew he'd be able to fix it. He repaired your Power FC without a schematic. He's also VERY honest and methodical. Peter is brilliant when it comes to electronics, nobody is better. Glad your PC is fixed.

I need two PowerFC repaired. My wires got shorted at the Dragon by my tire and didn't know what happened til I was taking the wheels off to take the bumper off for a tow truck. I've contacted both Peter at PFtuning and also talked to someone at Apexi.

i have a customer going through the same hoops with Apexi who got a PFC with the pins removed by SR motorsports. if you have them install a PFC tell them to NOT remove the pins from the ECU otherwise Apexi will not touch the unit if you ever need to have them repair it.

Wink

I have been known to use a 5 pound hammer on offending equipment.
It returns the equipment back into the basic building blocks of the universe.

Im having a problem as well and would like to see if this has happened to anyone:

My commander as of two days ago decided to quit turning on fully(stuck on Apexi screen), so I hooked a Datalogit up to no avail either. The FCBOX lights up, but I'm getting no reading from the ECU. Opened the PowerFC up and nothing looked burned or f-ed up. Car runs as it did before the problem.

Anyone? Lol

in your case, My guess is that connector is bad. That, I think most electronic shop can fix..

I talked to PFtuning and also Apexi and one of the PFC I can send to Apexi.. other one, I'm going to let PFtuning take a look. Since my case the wires were crossed so I'm going to find out which wires and send it over next week.
