Since it is a liquid crystall display, it uses some form of backlighting that shines through the display. You would have to take it apart to find out what type of light
source it uses an replace it. Could be a miniture bulb or light emmiting diode.

There was a thread how the green backlight can be replaced with a blue one. I think you should find some good info in this thread.

There are LED's around the display that light it up - they're VERY tiny and surface mounted, and typically don't fail. I think they have a VERY long life.

Anyhow, it's more likely a bad solder joint or broken electrical connection in the commander. There's definitely not a bulb to blow out in there.

could also just be loose where it plugs into the ecu itself.

Mine has gone out and came back one from time to time. I think it's just a loose connection where plugs in.

Has anyone found out which wires lead to the backlight of the screen? Mine are out and it's impossible to see the screen in the dark.

I tried to get a new screen soldered on mine but didn't work, check the green wire on the bottom when taking it apart. If that doesn't work I had someone solder leds on the side of my screen and it worked.

Open the controller it should be a bad connection on the wire that goes to the controller. My wire WAs broken.. simple to solder back on.. good luck.
