Cewerx7 got me wondering what I am missing with this thread so I picked up a pair of 550s/1300s recently flowed by RC engineering to replace my 850x4s which came with my car. Since I don't know any different I am interested to see how they feel and what I can do with the low load and tip in driveability ... Eventually I would like to go with a more modern injector but the price was right for now...

quick update. Injectors swapped out made setting adjustments for the new injectors. Took it for a few conservative drives to warm it up, logged some data and created a new base map in excel based on the data I collected. So far have the boost area a little conservative to be on the safe side and leaned out the cruise area up to 0 psi bost a bit to help with FE a bit. I am liking the ability to lean out idle easier. still have some driveability fine tuning to do. But overall I think it was the right direction to go for now.

My AFRs are more stable now than before, but I think this has more to do with finally taking the time to hammer out my base map a bit better ... Thanks for the motivation Cerwerx7

I run a set of modded stock primaries flowing 850cc and stock 850cc secondaries...and meth...

..car idles and drives better than stock....I love it. Tuned Via PFC.

Since methanol has 62,800 calories per gallon, and gasoline has 125, 000 calories,
using your 850 primaries is like running 427 for gasoline.
This is because you have to flow about 99% more meth than gas.

Thus your comments are not relevant to this discussion.

I assume he is running meth as AI? I don't think 850x4 is large enough for running straight meth... I find it hard to believe that a PFC car of any tune "drives better" than stock. Factory ECMs have much more complex control logic than most aftermaket computers. Aftermarket computers are made to be adjustable for performance; driveability and emissions are secondary if present at all...

Stock tunes normally are not that good, they use good closed loop control to make it "drive good". it's not real hard to get a properly setup modified car to drive well, especially with a motec.

If you look at the stock fuel map, it is way richer than most tunes on moddified engines. Why you ask? The IC and radiator both are way undersized for the job they had to do. Thus Mazda's rich fuel map.

My tuned engine runs so much cleaner with way less carbon builup on the plugs and in the exhaust. This carbon crap is a cause of detonation in some engines.

My low speed driveability does suffer some but this is due to a 12lb flywheel.

Only if you bought a Micr... er, old technology. Mind you, an M800 is old tech now, and still most users rarely touch a fraction of what it is capable of.

Finally got my car back together and got to test out my ID725 primaries. So far I love them, was able to get idle afr's in the low to mid 13's right away, so glad to be rid of the smell from the 850's.

With the ID725's you should be able to idle leaner than that depending.. a few customer cars have seen @ or near stoich values with E85 and ID2000's @ idle (although its as low as they should be taken (effective PW))

So say I decided to upgrade my stock injectors on my 13 6-port to the Bosch EV-14 - 500cc injectors all around. Considering the spray pattern is far better at atomization, would this equate to more more power? Or could this be that since atomization is better, I could use less fuel, get the same power, and still have a very stable engine?

And since these are considerable better injectors then stock ones, these would also be great for stock turbo charging fuel requirements, say an Series 4 turbo charger bolted onto a 6-port at stock boost levels.

Thoughts and feedback please.

In short yes.

In long it really depends on many variables (and i wouldn't recommend swapping out your stock injectors for EV14's on your stock car)

ECU & tuning ability -if you're running the stock ECU good luck.. tuning with a motec or an upper end haltech, etc has more things to adjust to get gains from (i.e. injection timing, 3D battery comp mapping, closed loop, etc)

Fuel pressure -running more fuel pressure will give better atomization (although each injector has its limits where it will get funky)

When a combo is put together (some, all or more than listed) it can net better drive-ability, lower fuel consumption and higher power.

To keep it simple lol

Has anyone run four ID2000's with a PFC? I'm concerned the limitations of the PFC won't allow me to run such large primaries with a smooth idle for gas. Before anyone jumps on my case about running such large primaries I'd like to be able to run E85 on race weekends on a separate map and straight gas durning the rest of the time. Maybe it's time for a Haltech?

Would love to, but there is only one pump in my area and it would make road trips a bitch.

I do not think you have done enough research on your own. Contact the shops that sell them as the IDs are EV14s.

So are these identical to the ID injectors?

If they are the same they are a hell of alot cheaper...

Wish I would have went this route last year. Oh well.... I'll upgrade with the SP, rebuild & meth

I too find it hard to lean out idle, and also driveability issues. It's not bad, just not real smooth. Runs with a constant slight miss.

I also have KG primary & secondary rails. I'll look at the other threads, but simply put, do the EV14's drop right in?

1000/2000 here, I don't regret spending the $$$ on them.. Simple plug and play, exept the 1000, they use newer side clip connectors, 2000s plug into the stock secondary clips

I have been selling a lot of ID injectors lately and have them in stock if anyone needs a set. A nice upgrade over the Bosch injectors.

I'll probably order from you when the time comes Jason. You stock the 725's & 2000's?

Also, can you get the pig tails and denso seals that ID sells? They're needed for KG rail fitment. If so, would much rather buy from you. Enjoy supporting great vendor's such as yourself.

On this note! You should consider offering or upgrading your Ultimate Fuel System with this setup. It would be great to get the word out as well boost sales. Just a thought.

I do have those when you need them along with the clips. I have added them as an option to my fuel systems. Its been a popular upgrade lately.

Thanks
