Power FC No idle control from power fc
No idle control from power fc
i recently put my battery wrong way around, any may have fried the powerfc unit. since then i've had the power fc fixed. the unit is running and maps are still holding in the memory, the car (s14 sr20det) is running and idling on a start up, however when you hit the accellerator the car will stall. it seems though the car won't catch its idle, and stall. i can avoid the car stalling by easing off the accellerator and let it idle again. basically i don't have a idle control on my power fc. i've done a reteach on the unit (i.e reset and relearn the idle) but this has been fruitless. as you can imagine, if i was to change gear the car would stall. i have checked the engine side of things (tps..etc etc)
i've taken it to many places and its costing alot of money, and the problem is still there. i'm pulling out my hair! even considering sending it back to japan and back to apexi, but i heard this process may take up to 4-6 months.
is there any way to fix the idle control driver on the power fc?

Since we are RX-7 people, we only can give you our perspective.
Our total idle control includes the air pump, O2 sensor, ISC solenoid, Air Control Valve, and PFC settings. You can use a Datalogit to set a you idle speeds to 0 which then turns off the PFC idle control and you then do it totally manually.

You will have to adjust the throttle body air flow by what ever adjustments yours has. This sets the basic idle speed just like on a carb engine. Then use the PFC Comander or DL to adjust fuel for best idle.
You need to study basic engine operational theory!

This is where I'm at. My car refuses to idle correctly.
I have an automatic with the Banzai adapter.
With the stock ecu - it runs great...
Put in the PFC and it idles like dogshit. The car won't learn idle and it runs really high. Sometimes it will stop hunting and maintain about 3000 RPM. Worthless.
I'm bringin it to Chucks house!

Sounds like you have not cut the 4 wires required for PFC installation, one of which is the AWS solenoid, explaining the 3000 rpm idle. We do not eliminate them in our adapter so that it can be used with other EM systems

^^^ All 4 pins are removed from the PFC and I double checked the pins as per Dale Clarks write up so I didnt have to cut the harness. They were removed prior to me buying the PFC so maybe they are just barely making contact. It was installed on a modified prior to mine that didn't have AWS. I was going to cut the Banzai harness anyway just to make sure but it was all mirror imaged to the ecu picture, all the harness wires were white, it was late and it made my head hurt.
Sometimes the car will just hunt for idle between 1100 and 2500 or so RPM forever and sometimes it just idles absudly high.
