Got mine from him - shipped quick, brand new in the box, and working like a charm over a year later. Get one!

With that attitude, do you even own a RX-7?
What is wrong with you people , All I was Doing was making a point that the instructions are in japaneese, and if I bought a Power Fc for an FD I Obviously own one! In future I will try and make things as simple as possible for you to understand.

The difference is buying from him or buying from a US shop si that the ones from him have NO warranty. I doubt he will replace the ecu is you TELL him in your email that an injector driver is not working properly. Versus if you buy it from a US shop that is an Apexi Power Excel dealer, Apexi will replace it for you.
And believe it or not, I have seen some faulty ones, for RX7, Mr2, an Eclipse one, two Supra ones, etc. All of them were replace by Apexi immediately with next day shipping.
As with any standalone, you are paying not only for the ecu, but for its warranty, and technical support.
I'd rather pay $150 more ( $870 vs $720) and have a piece of mind, versus end up paying $720 (overseals pfc) + $870 ( us pfc after the other one goes bad)when the one from overseas stops working. And that is the smallest problem. In case a bad ignition driver blows your engine ( a trailing firing before leading, for example) go and prove to the company overseas that the ECU blew it up. Now you are not saving $150, but you are out $5000 ( new engine, new turbo, labor). I have seen people that have done that. In their desire to be cheap to the last dollar, they actually ended up paying 5 times more later for their mistakes.
I would never buy an ecu from a different country( or continent), never buy a used methanol injection kit ( blow you engine), never buy a used oil cooler (bearing material), never buy a used camshaft off ebay (some people got some bent ones), et etc.
just my 2 cents...

While that's true, the failure rate on PFC's is EXTREMELY low. Personally, I've never heard of a failure - only problem I've seen is broken wiring on the Commander, which is just fatigue over time and is easily fixed by soldering.
Not to mention if you blow your motor I doubt Apexi will step in and pick up the tab .
The worst part is Apexi USA is doing this to themselves - they only recently started selling the bundled PFCs/Commanders, and pricing is still out of line. Not to mention it's pot luck if you even get US instructions with it.
Not sure where you're seeing that pricing in the US - RX-7 store, which is typically pretty good on pricing, is at $949 for the combo - factor in shipping, and you're looking at a $200 difference.

And believe me, I have seen them fail... Just like any other ECU...
You are right about the instructions though, even Apexi USA sends them with Jap instructions sometimes.

A friend of mine have had some issues with his PFC. He sent it back to Japan(UK to Japan) and they have replaced the unit. I think this guy ordering directly from the factory so the warranty should still applies for all units.
I mean it doesnt need to be ordered from an excel dealer. Moreover, you re already braking the warranty by using Datalogit software. Apexi only lets Power Excel dealers to perform remapping.
