Power FC New PFC and bad 2,000 RPM Idle

New PFC and bad 2,000 RPM Idle

I just put on my Brand New PFC and Commander that i got from RX7.com. I made sure and triple checked and placement and color checked the wires needed to be cut. I am 100% sure i cut the right ones. My problem is, the car will idle at 2,000 rpm, and will not go lower, PFC says should be 850, and i know it should be that low too. I have no clue what is going on, can anyone help.
Mods are catback, downpipe, intake, and intercooler

Adjust the idle rpms down like you would with a stock ecu.

i tries the only thing i knew, the screw valve on the throttle body, if i lower it, the engie feels like it gonna stall, and jumps from 1400-2000 rpm, choking every second or so, are there any other ways to adjust the idle??

Put the stock ECU back in and see what happens. Let us know so we can go from there.

What did Rx7.com have to say about your idle problems??? Curious.

The car should not idle at 2k without oscillating unless your condition occurs during cold start (assuming the AWS is still functional). There is a high rpm setting above which the FC should fuel cut, this typically makes the idle oscillate up and down if your idle screws and throttle plate adjustments allow too much intake air for the ISC to control idle to the desired rpm.

Update

On my old ECU, i just found out it was REMAN. When my car got flooded with fuel 2 months ago, the culprit were the vacuum lines, which i had a very competent RX7 mechanic do. Before the entire fuel diaster 2 months ago, the idl would be a smooth 800, after the flooding, and the fixing of every vaccum line, it went to 1350, and sometimes would sit at 900 at a light, then go back up, never really constant. I never paid it mind, becuase i had the PFC waiting to install it. However, once i put the PFC on the thing was up to 2,000.

New stuff.

I just played with the throttle body screws, both the coarse one that sits next to the throttle body cable, and the one under the throttle body with a spring onto it. I played for 1 hour, and nothing would cause it to fall below 1800 rpm, or else it would choke. I looked onto the setting in the PFC and it was like 1200, then worked it way down to the bottom as 850. I am gonna call RX7.com today to see what to do, but i cant live with the car like this. Let see if I have this correct?

A. The car use to run great then it flooded and the idle started messing up.

B. Your very competent RX7 mechanic changed the old vacuum lines and the car started to idle crappy, but you did not have your very competent RX7 mechanic fix the problem which he left you with.

C. You installed the PFC thinking it could work miracles and fix the bad idle .

I suggest you put the stock ecu back in an tell your not so competent RX7 mechanic to fix the problem that he did not finish fixing.

Im having the same problem with 2k idle with my pfc.... although i havent really messed with it yet. When i had the stock ecu in i had a steady 850.

If there are no vacuum leaks, no other problems, and the PFC is installed correctly; the problem is that the PFC's idle control is so much more efficient that the engine needs way less air and is getting too much air that it can't control it.

You manually have to reduce the idle air by adjusting down the throttle set screw and/or idle air bleed screw.

I have mine at totally backed off, and 1/4 turn opened.

Just spoke to Chris at the RX7.com. He told me that the PFC has to learn the new idle, and i had no idea it did, and the bogging is normal, and will go away, will play with it tommorow. my mechanic was good, and he took apart everything, and i just guess he played with the throttle settings. I will post update tommorow, thank you for all the help

I have this problem also, when I was running my stock ecu I had a perfect idle, as soon as I put in the PFC it jumped to 2000 and no matter what I couldn't bring it down. I unplugged the ISC and it drops down, so I just adjusted it to 800 and left it unplugged. Not sure why it does this, and jumping the ten and ground pins in the diagnostic connectors doesn't change anything when the ISC is plugged in, it disabled it with the stock ecu. Keep us posted on your fix if you figure it out.

same problem

I had the same exact problem also in fact i had the problem today and i just got my pfc installed the the day before... well i did nothing and it got fixed by itself lol It wouldnt come down from 2k i would put the a/c on 1 and it will come down...then turn it off and it will level off at 1k then i would drive and it would return to 2k... well i drove like this the whole day at night i drove and magically it stayed at 850 lol im thinking maybe my pfc is a slow learner
