Need to relearn idle..

I am wanting to relearn the idle as I didn't get it dialed in good the first time (Basically I thought I was adjusting the idle bleed screw when I wasn't so now I can only lower the idle and if I do it dies. Right now it barely hunts because its so low). So since I am running base mod map anyhow. I can I just do a factory reset of the PFC and then relearn the idle like the first time?

Thanks for the input gang.

Kyle

Make sure your TPS is within spec (narrow and wide range, VTA1 and VTA2 on the commander). Then send the ECU through the learn process.

Pull the negative battery cable and hold the brake down for 15 seconds. Then hook the battery back up and let it idle, learn the idle. Read the manual as to how to go through each idle learn parameter. You'll have to let it learn no load, ELD load and AC load.

I have already dialed in the TPS. But as I said. I thought I had the idle bleed screw all the way in then backed out 1/2 turn when I learned idle the first time, turns out it was backed way out so I have no room to tune for idle.

Thanks,
Kyle

So you were just looking for the procedure to send the ECU back through a learn process?

I think he was hoping you'd explain what you did to reset the ECU so it relearns certain parameters. With the stock ecu, it's the classic, take the negative cable off, hold down the brake pedal for 20 seconds. A hard reset I guess.

what i did was disconnect the negative terminal for 15 minutes, then put it back on and start the car

I have a question. I have a similar setup, and the map that is in my pfc was setup for my mods specifically. If i "re-learn" the idle, will it be set back to the base map? Thanks alot!

No, it will still have the map you loaded or added your changes to.

Whenever the battery is disconnected or you change something in the idle parameters.

How do you reset your ecu back to the base map inside of it so you can start fresh? Bought an ecu from Fritz Flynn and rx-7store won't be able to get me in for a few days yet so I figured id get all the mundane things out of the way before going to them.

Any ideas?

/\ Yes,

Hit the previous button tell you can't go back any further. You should see the bottom tab, INT. ALL DATA

Hit next while highlighted on that.
Then highlight yes and hit next.

This just put the PFC back to how it came from the factory. Be careful.

I'll bring this up from the dead.

When one INT. ALL DATA, does it go to the factory map? or the datalogit programmed map?

I believe it goes to the original factory map the PFC ships with from Apexi.

BTW, you don't have to do the disconnect the battery nonsense - the PFC doesn't need that. Etc - All Data Init, highlight Yes and hit Next, then turn the car off and back on. Done.

But, this will reset EVERYTHING, so if you have a tuned PFC that tosses everything out the window unless you save the map ahead of time with a Datalogit.
