Need advice on PFC purchase for my lightly modified fd
Hey everyone,
Ive been reading and reading and have finally decided to look into purchasing a PFC. The main concern that I have is do i need a pfc? I did read a thorough writeup on the PFC that was created by a member on the forum and it helped a lot, but isn't specific to light modifications!
I was originally thinking to run the stock ECU with the following modifications but have found out this may throw off the air/fuel and a number of other readings. Any advice or insight greatly appreciated!
My fd modifications:
-FEED downpipe
-full 3" midpipe/catback
-front mount IC with stock twins
-Efini Y pipe
-greddy elbow, custom IC piping
- RE-A intake
- Koyo N-flow rad

Currently all the parts are not installed, the car is stock right now. Im starting the build in April, but didnt want to run the car with the risk of potential engine damage. I was also considering having the stock ecu tuned as an alternative, but wanted to get an idea on if a pfc would benefit me personally.

There is no tuning the stock ECU.
A PFC is beneficial for many reasons, the fact that the fan temps can be lowered and larger injectors can be installed simply, are just a couple.
You still need to pull the turbos and port the wastegate if you plan on running the mods in your list. You also need to upgrade your fuel system.

Banzai,
You sell the pfc units on your website correct? This is the first im hearing about the westgate porting and fuel system modifications. Is there a thread i can visit that visits these topics in detail? Im assuming the increased air and coolant flow is the reasoning behind this? Thanks for the insight

OP If you are doing those modifications listed above, you will have to get a PFC or some type of ecu management. The free flowing exhaust will cause the boost levels to rise and stock ecu's are known for "fuel cut" which occurs when a "boost spike" happens.
As Banzai stated above porting the wastegate is not a bad idea as the wastegate right now is too small to regulate all that exhaust pressure. Removing the cat alone is enough to create boost spike conditions.
