Knocking (have searched)
HI,
I have searched and there is heeeaaaaps about knocking but i couldn't find out how it actually occurs. I have a powerfc and a dataogit (neither is installed yet)
I'll keep this short and simple. I am slowly trying to grasp the features of the powerfc, I understand how knocking occurs on a piston engine, but I am a little unsure about how it occurs with a rotary. If someone wouldn't mind giving me a simple explanation then I could actually understand all the other posts about knocking. And how is it measured (% or degrees or...?) and what is an ok amount of knock.
so...
1. How does knocking occur on a rotary engine (pics would help)
2. How is knocking measured
3. Does my series 8 fd have a knock sensor already?
Thanks

1. Pre-ignition and detonation occur for the same reasons in a rotary as in a boinger.
2. Spectral analysis is used to detect the trademark frequency produced by detonation at various RPM.
3. Yes.
7. You will find the datalogit is an excellent tool for producing excessive knock.
