Knock sensor upgrade on PFC?

Hi all,
Has anyone on the forum tried upgrading to a more modern, inexpensive bosch or delphi style knock sensor while using PFC?

Our OEM sensor has no business being as expensive as it is...

(N3A1-18-921A)

With the introduction of xavier's amazing dl340xb and fc tweak combo, knock sensors are actually useful now.
I know its pretty much standard for haltech guys to use bosch style sensors. What about those of us on PFC?

ALTERNATIVELY, is anyone aware of an inexpensive but reliable aftermarket replacement for the above oem sensor?

My OEM knock sensor has gone bad, and im very reluctant to pay $300 for an old, unreliable, and inferior sensor to the inexpensive, easily sourced, and more performant modern sensors. Even upgrading to an RX8 knock sensor, which i believe is bosch, would be a real improvement over paying $300 for these crusty old sensors..

I think you may be underestimating the OEM knock sensor. Read below:

Ah a fellow Buyee user. I haven't seen these when I search for FD3S but I recognize the seller's username. Thanks for sharing, I will have to look into this!

Now that the PFC Master has added both closed loop and long term self learning knock control functions to the Apexi PFC, it's more than ever important to get a well tuned knock sensor. The original Mazda knock sensor N3A1-18-921A, is the only one guaranteed to be internally tuned for the 13B rotary engine knock frequency, and is the best choice for use with an upgraded Apexi PFC. Cheaper replacements react to a wider frequency range, which may result in false knock readings and negatively affect the knock control functions.

Tuned factory sensors are very engine specific and in general are not interchangeable. Every rotary (& piston) engine model will have a specific frequency at which knock signal amplitude is highest and engine noise is lowest. Such specific frequency gives the best signal to noise ratio, and is chosen by the manufacturer for its matching resonant knock sensor.
