Well, I'm pretty much decided for the PFC/FC Datalogit combo, but there is no info on the FC Datalogit site about its additional datalogging imputs, so can you guys that already own a FC Datalogit tell me about them? How many of them are available and what kind of imputs they support (0-5v, K-type thermocouple, etc.)? I hope to log at least one wide band o2 sensor and 2 pyros.

 

4 inputs........

the wideband requires 2 so that leaves 2 for egts, fuel pressure etc. i log 2 egts, fuel pressure and exhaust manifold pressure so i switch them which is an easy task.

i really think highly of the PFC/DL combo and think you are making the right decision.

Are all these inputs of the 0-5v variety? Why is it that a wideband needs to use 2 inputs?

 

It is not necessary to use the DELTA function and 2 inputs for the wideband.
I have my DATALOGIT externally grounded to the power source of my wideband and have a noise filter across the wideband #1 input to ground. Then I used the FC Edit poly function to calibrate the FC Edit values to match the wideband's display. Thus I have a very accurate wiedeband recording.

Before doing this and using two different good widebands, the Fc Edit showed .3AFR leaner than what the widebands were reading.

Think outside the box!

duh, why didn't i think of that... thanks for the info.

i do see a problem as to calibration for me. i run a Techedge 1.5 and the display consistantly reads almost a whole AFR low. i just ignore it as i monitor/log off my laptop.

i understand the concept of re-routing the ground to the wideband and freeing up AN2 but i wouldn't want to address the calibration v my display. did you find a need to re-calibrate?

BTW, i recently purchased a 5 inch liquid filled 0-30 psi pressure gauge from McMaster Carr and did a complete audit of my 3 bar map sensor and my AVCR sensor along with all the various calibration tables. the guage is accurate to +/- 1%. i found my map sensors to be quite accurate.... thanks for the initial idea.

Even if you use the two inputs and delta function, the DATALOGIC and laptop might load the signal so that the recorded AFRs are o0ff from what the wideband's meter show.

I calibrated mine by immersing the O2 sensor in a sealed jar of propane gas and slowly injecting a little air until the WB read about 11AFR. Then I played with the poly until the FC edit display close as posible the same values. Mine was .1 volt off which was .3AFR.

 

These newer widebands with a separate display are so nice aren't they ... in the old days it was voltage out only and who knew if the measured voltage was dirtied by ground reference voltge.

 

Er, guys? Can you let me know what kind of signals the imputs accept? 0 to 5 volts? 0 to 12 volts? Or anything else?
