Question Help! Serial Com port settings for datalogit

I'm using Windows 98. I am also using a serial to USB adapter. I've installed the driver for the adapter AND Datalogit successfully. Problem is, Win98 is assigning the adapter a Com3 designation. If you pull up Datalogit and go into setup, then port, there's only Com1 and Com2. Every time I get the same message that it's not responding. I've loaded the driver as per the directions TWICE and followed them to a tee. Boot the computer. Insert the Serial to USB adapter into one of the USB ports. Win98 senses a new device and launches Wizzard. Start to go through the steps of installation, insert the driver disk. Install the software. With everything up and running and the adapter installed, insert into the device. Turn the device on. I get nothing. I know the Datalogit works because Rick used it on his laptop to pull my maps last week. How in the hell do I assign the adapter to Com1 or 2? Why in the hell does ANYONE like Windows operating systems? Desperate for a little help here....

Oh I should note that once or twice (after four hours of trying different things) I did get it to the point where the warning window would not come up. However, when I hit read with the car on, nothing happened. Nothing was uploaded from the PFC.

Ok looks like it's a conflict between the USB settings in Mac OSX and in Windows. Basically, the two USB ports are being used by a Mac app, in this case a flash card reader. They stay "dedicated" whether it's hooked up or not, so when I boot Windows 98, they're already assigned Com1 and Com2. FDSteve has come to the rescue and will include Com3 & 4 as an update in a few days. Once that's loaded up, everything should be good to go. So for you Mac junkies, things are looking up. No need to join the evil empire.
