got a new datalogit.. came free with new problem

so my old datalogit was done for, i went in with a friend of mine that has another shop not far from here. we both got our datalogits for a very fair price. it's the latest ofcourse universal black box.

the software is version 2.122

it will not respond no matter what. "interface not responding"

i have tried the usb converter that was provided with the datalogit (piece of ****), i tried the Keyspan i've been using with my haltechs, microtechs, etc.. (didn't work), and even went and bought a random radio shack one just to see what was up.

nothing works. i have all the latest drivers for the usb converters, i have tried different com ports within each one. i even tried using older datalogit software from before i installed the new ****.

the commander works perfectly thru the datalogit, everything lights up, i just can not interface with it most likely due to these usb devices not working properly with it. OR is my pc???? i didn't have a problem on the old box (beige), why now?

any ideas? yes i have searched my *** off guys hahaha i have two cars that need to be tuned the following wednesday so i gotta figure something out

thanks in advance,

Hey Intense,

In the software, did you make sure that you have selected "V2.0 (Black)" under Setup -> FC-Box.

I'd try to borrow a laptop with a serial port to verify whether it's the DL's problem or not.

I had this problem but dont really remember what I did to fix it.

IIRC, I didnt have the right com port selected and it only works on one of my USB ports on my laptop.

With cewrx7r1 wanting $90 maybe it wasn't as simple (or the same problem) as I remember.

I had to try all the com ports on the laptop before I found it was on com5 (although it was actually on a usb port!)

you can go in to device manager and find out which com port it is set for. it accepts my com settings, it just won't interface.

i have never eeeeever had this problem until i decided to get a new universal black box. such bullshit
