Question Fans always running with PFC

Hi everybody.

I've 1999 JDM FD3S. I've bought the PFC ver.5. Later I knew that for my car I need a PFC ver.6.

When the engine is working - radiator fans are working too. No matter what's the temperature of the engine, fans work when I start the engine.

I suppose that the problem of it is in the PFC, because when stock ECU is installed fans work properly.

How can I fix it?

Use stock ECU ? Or I can reprogramm it?

Thanks for everybody.

FD3S5 signed on my PFC. Proper PFC for 1999 is ver. 6.
No any changes in the stock (base) PFC programm...

Buy a ver. 6/S8 PFC to solve the problem.

What you describe is one of the differences between the S7 & S8 FD

You could try to identify the fan relay ground wire that is being triggered, but the ECU pinouts for the S7/S8 are not readily available in any language but Japanese.

You bought the wrong PFC for your car. There is a reason there are two different part numbers for S7 & S8. From your response I guess it must be impossible for you to sell the PFC you have then buy the correct one. I would think that would be the simple solution instead of trying to make the wrong one work in your car, but what ever you want to do....

the fd3s5 will work fine on your car and the fd3s6 pfc will work just fine on a 96 car

I came across a power fc once that the fans were running all the time and there was an issue with the power fc. sent to apexi and had it repaired .
I had tried that power fc in 3 different cars and they all had the same issue

Oh, thanks!
Maybe the problem is really in it.

Where did you send you PFC?

Apexi Usa.. expect a long wait though because they will diagnose it, ship it to japan, have it repaired over there and then back in the states .. and then back to russia i guess . I am sure there are other alternatives as of where you can have it repaired. I have been very happy with the service of the Apexi USA team. It is a long and SAFE journey

I shipped mine (Among with other damaged power fcs ) and it took 2-3 months and that was from cyprus-usa-japan and back.

IF you want however i have a power fc for your car that i can sell you.. no waiting time

OR another option is to basically eliminate the ecu running the fans feature. get a different controller for it.
I have never done it my self to be honest but it should be doable

Hi mate, thanks, yeah would definately be interested to know!

Ive been looking all week for pinout/loom diagrams with no luck; not even apexi could help; and had to miss my time on the dyno to map it.

Ive now actually ordered an FD3S6 unit which is flying in from japan so theres no real rush, but i need to sell one of them and imSure this info would also be useful for others trying to do the same thing as the FD3S6 unit is so rare, especially in the uk.

Cheers mate
