Difference between JDM and USDM Power FC's?

I read in a post in the 3rd gen forum that someone got a PFC with Commander from JapPartsSpecialist.com for $850.

That's a pretty damn good deal. I was wondering if there is a difference between the ones offered in Japan compared to the ones sold in the US?

Here's a link for the PFC in Japan:

just make sure of the correct series PFC for your year car. The 96-98 or so went to a 3 pin row ecu, ours is a 2 row.

Do they come with the same base maps? I'm looking to install a power fc on my very mildly modded car (intake, exhaust, soon to be downpipe) so I'm not looking for any special tuning, but I do want to know that I won't blow things up.

you should be fine with a base map. I can't remember if the jspec and us version has the same timing numbers. just compare it to some of the maps posted here to be sure, if it is from Japan.

They U.S and J spec timing is the same. Base map is ok as long as you are no autox or some sort of racing. Make sure you power fc comes with the fd pressure sensor and air intake sensor
Thanks Robert

Do you mean the base map will be damaging for autox or racing, or that it will just not be optimized for racing?

The base mapping is just to get the car started . What you do after then is for tuning
Thanks Robert

Well, yeah, but thats my question. Will the base map be damaging if I push my car, or will it be fine but just not as fast as it could be?
