Yes, there is rx7 specific software for the old beige boxes. There are minor differences between the versions but either should work fine for tuning, just go with the newer one. Install doesn't have to be permanent, you can move from car to car if you want.

You do not want the hassle of registering an old used beige box, then trying to get the updated software, just buy a new unit.

 

The 2.128a software, which is the latest version of the universal software, should work on the beige or black boxes. The tuning group has that software available.

 

I have one of the earliest Datalogit Beige boxes which was called FD3S. I got it in 1999. It works perfectly with either the last FD3S software update, or the newest Universal DL software. The Universal software logs a little faster, but the FD3S is better for editing and comparing on your computer. The FD3S was made only for the RX7 and was their first package to work With the FD3S APexi PFC.

The Black Universal boxes work with the Universal software on most of APexi's PFCs.
