Is a datalogit needed to upload tunes?

Pretty sure it is, just want to make sure before I go spend a couple hundred bucks.

I have need of a good tune, but I cant get my car properly dyno tuned for a few months, and would love to drive the car here and there before hand.

Aggressive street port
850/1200 injectors
Aeromotive 340 pump
Zero emissions
3" exhaust from the turbo back
Non seq twins @16 psi
Med. Side mount, 3" core intercooler
Koyo rad
Obviously power fc with commander.

Correct. It is currently untuned. I am not driving the car, as I'm waiting on Mazdatrix to give me my damn gaskets....

A few people, and myself, are working on getting Steve Kan out here, but best case scenario it is a few months out. I would like to enjoy my car before then.

 

Exactly what I said. The Datalogit is the most commonly used, there is other software for tuning, the Apexi Power FC Commander Pro.

 

I already have the commander, though I'm unsure if it's "pro" or not lol.

Is it possible to get a safe and powerful tune with just a wideband o2 and the commander then?

 

No. Commander Pro is software and hardware similar to the datalogit. Take your car to a tuner

 

Hahaha, yeah.... I figured that would be best. But my location doesn't have many reputable rotary shops... and o have heard prices ranging from 400 to a thousand dollars...

 

How are you gonna enjoy it without a tune? Steve is awesome, I would say wait till you get him to tune it before you start driving it.

 

I'm pretty confident I can make the car safe enough to drive around at part throttle. Steve coming out here is several months away, at best.
