Cost for XS to tune PFC?

I've got a PFC, and though it's not yet installed (*sigh*) I'm wondering if my best bet would just be to have XS tune it for me. I've only got one intake/exhaust mod for the time being, but both CAI and catback are going to happen sometime this year (*crosses fingers* the fiance will need to *ahem* approve this) but I don't really want to mess this up. I will definitely take the time to learn how to do this, but the initial setup isn't something I want to have hosed up.

What's it cost to have XS tune the PFC? Is it on a per mod basis? I live in northern CA, and I understand they're in SoCal, so I could just drive the thing down to have them do it.

Cheers,

Cheers,
I just mailed my FC to them and they charged me $150 plus $20 shipping. They charge the same amount for subsequent "tuning sessions."

My timing seems ok (actually a little retarded), but they had me running 13.0:1 a/f ratio from 3k to 6k at WOT. I couldn't rev any higher due to a mysterious misfire problem; not sure yet if it has to do w/their tuning, although I doubt it.

If I had to do it again I would go to a dyno w/a wideband a/f ratio meter (which is what I'm doing shortly).

Btw, the base maps are fine for downpipe, catback, and intake. I wouldn't do anything to the settings, except perhaps add a little fuel (which is very simple to do on the commander via the PIM Volt menu). If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Does XS do dyno tuning for that same cost? At what mod level is it wise to actually go to the dyno? I'd guess 3, but I dunno...

Someone is another post mentioned spending ~$500 for the dynotune at XS....so there you go...not sure that is worth it at your current mod level....

definitely not worth it right now, but after CAI and CB it might be. It'll be a while, but good to know.

Put your $150+ shipping toward a new Datalogit.

You money would be much better spent with the datalogit than the XS tune

Later,

Im wondering if I told XS to tune me for a max boost of 15psi if they are only tuning to 15psi. Im using a 3 bar map sensor. I have to figure this out.
Anyone have a clue?

XS altered my fuel base map all the way through P20 if that's what you're asking. They have the ability to program it to run boost higher than the stock MAP sensor as well. Whether they have such a map is a question you will have to ask them. As Stephen suggested, buy datalogit software and I'll give you my XS map for free.

Ok I just got my PFC back from XS...

I had them set it up for use with a GM 3 bar MAP sensor.
Its works pretty good.

Im not really pushing it til I have it tuned on a dyno in March!

So if they mess up or dont tune it correctly when they install it, then you comeback and pay them again to tune it right? Its $150 each tune?

ok...question here....

any of you running a map with similar mods to mine? should I not trust xs since they tuned my pfc without having my car there? Would Datalogit and a similar map for my mods be smarter?

dyno time would be the best would it not?

I had the gforce ecu before this and the power fc is brand new...just wondering what the smartest options are.

That's nice but its really not that easy. For one it costs like 500 bucks for the dyno tune, they want the car for the whole day, and you can not watch the session so if you don't have a way to leave the car you have to walk around in circles for 8 hours. Been there, done that. It sucks.

$500 for the tuning is not bad at all. Think of the amount of $ you put into your car.

They don't let you watch?? Whats up with that? I think that is half the fun. After all the time and money put into the car, you want to see what it can do.

It was not just the money. It was the sitting around all day and the money and then not feeling like what they did made a difference. When I left the car had a terrible hesitaion that I fixed myself.
I was under the impression since it was thier turbo kit that I had that it would be a matter of loading new maps and then tweeking them for my car. But that was not the case, it was a whole day affair. I don't really want to bash XS, but I would not do it again, especially not now with the datalogit available.

Absolutely no way I would let a shop dyno my car if they refused to let me watch. What are they hiding? Hell, it's your car, your $$$, and your mess to deal with if they screw up.

My wife's going to deliver a baby soon, and the hospital sure as hell doesn't mind if I'm there watching the delivery!
