Correct electrical connections for AVC-R solenoid

I just purchased the AVC-R solenoid and intend to use it with a single turbo for boosting below 15 psi until I buy a 3 bar. Would someone verify which connector mates with the solenoid? I have searched and found the following excerpts:

“i hooked mine up to the connector that has "NO" white dot on it. didnt work. . . whichever one that is. i looked at a car that had both connectors on the car still and hooked it up to the one w/o the white dot and it DID work. so im assuming mine is hooked up correctly. mine plainly DOES NOT click when the ignition is turned on. that makes me happy.”

“Anyway, I just hooked it up to the non-white-banded connector and it seems to work fine (although not how I expected). “

“There are two solenoids there which are attached to each other. disconnect the wiring on the right one (facing the car). The right one has a white dot on the connector. Hook that wire connector up to your new boost solenoid”

Books, use the one without the white dot. It is the precontrol one. When you change the power fc to nonsequential, it only uses the primary boost channel to set boost. This is the channel normally used to control boost on the primary turbo and therefor connected to the precontrol solenoid.

When going nonsequential, you take this connector off the precontrol solenoid and connect it to the wastegate solenoid after first removing the one with the white dot and leaving it disconnected. This allows the ecu to now control the wastegate via the primary boost setting line in the commander. The same will apply to your new avcr solenoid, use the one without the white dot and plug it into your new solenoid. Then go into the power fc and set it to nonsequential. Then go to the boost screen and set the primary lines for settings 1 and 2 to your desired boost levels.

Just remember that the boost # is just a target # and does not actually control the amount of boost. The duty cycle is the setting that you use to achieve the boost # you want. For example, You put in 1.00 and 61%. It is the 61% that you need to play with to hit your target boost of 1.00. The reason you put in the 1.00 is so the ecu will know what your target boost is. If the car boost over 10% of your target boost, it will hit boost cut. So lets say, if 61% is actually 1.2, and you have 1.0 set as your boost number, then you will be always hitting boost cut. You will need to either lower the duty cycle or raise the target # if you actually are wanting to run 1.2.

Hope this helps.

btw, mine worked flawlessly. I had a very flat boost curve with no creep.

Mike,

thanks for your response...I did see your thread requesting the same info...I was attempting to verify the connections since there appears to be some conflict in the posts.

I did datalog with the sequential box unchecked, this resulted in the only value that changed was the precontrol and not the wastegate solenoid. This I believe confirms your setup.

By the way, you did provide this info to me via a pm, I hope you're not offended by this request. I wanted to be absolutely certain. I know you're waiting on the 40R kit, I am waiting on the 35R.

No Problem, I was just making sure you got it. I know there is always conflicting data out there. This is the problem that I have when actually searching myself. The thing is that many people forget to post back with their results so others know the outcome. This leaves many unanswered threads. The person who started the thread gets his/her answer but everyone else is left wondering.

I have a low post count because I usually only post when I am 100% sure or I will state otherwise. With so many threads covering the same topic, you start seeing conflicting info. I had this setup on my rx6 and it worked perfect. I will be doing the same when my 40r arrives.
