Power FC clutch switch troubleshooting help
clutch switch troubleshooting help
From reading through here, I was able to assume that my stall on clutch pedal depression was just related to the switch not registering the clutch, and sure enough the commander doesn't show the clutch switch when the pedal is engaged. I took out the switch, and using a multimeter verified that the switch is working properly (0 ohms when out, .1 ohms when switch in). I then put the switch back in, connected the multimeter and verified that the pedal is engaging the switch enough to register (pedal out, 0ohms, pedal in, .1 ohms).
The ECU is still not registering the clutch switch. Any suggestion of where I should check now?
Thanks,
Travis

I wrote the previous poorly. the switch correctly reads open with clutch out, and short with clutch in. I unplugged the switch connector, and used a jumper wire - same as with the switch - no change on the pfc commander with jumper in place or not.
Is there a cross reference of the sensors listed on the commander? with key on, car not running, I have the following marked: CAT, HWL, PAC, CCN
Thanks,
Travis

You are testing the upper clutch switch, right?

I tested the switch labeled a-04 in the shop manual wiring diagram. White plastic box bolted to the clutch pedal mount by 2 10mm nuts, squeezed in next to the wiring distribution block under the dead pedal.
That was it. Sure enough, pulled out the other clutch switch, pulled it apart, and removed all three pieces of spring. Replaced with the spring from a Costco uniball retractable pen. Guess this means I have Costco parts in my car....

Sivart_r1 nice to see you're from Kent, WA. Modified rotaries are on the rise here in the PNW.
P.S. all rx7 clutch switches are poorly designed internally in my opinion. Wonder if a simple switch from a 350z or something can screw into the rx7 clutch switch bracket
