A/C sensor issue. Assistance please

Ok I just installed a PFC. The idle is the same as the stock ECU, sometimes it fluctuates, I've been looking at it slowly.

But with the new PFC, I did the 15 minutes no EL and 15 minutes AC thing but the car is acting the same way as before. One thing I notice that might not mean anything or possibly it is the A/C PFC problem and this is just a symptom but my A/C sensor light on the commander will turn on and off fairly often, even just crusing at 2500rpm. I know it is supposed to go off at WOT but this even happens on decel. Could this be a problem with the sensor or is this normal? If it sounds like a problem then I'll investigate further, if its normal then I'll ignor it.

Thanks for your time.

BTW I didn't buy the PFC in hopes of fixing my problem, although I did hope it might help in finding it. Getting volt readings with the stock ECU is a pain.

As far as the idle goes, if the commander is reporting voltages on VTA1 and VTA2 within spec, then this is how to set your idle. Screw in the airbleed screw all the way in, then back it outabout 1/2 a turn. Unplug your TCS and get the car up to good operating temp (above 80C). Then set your idle with the throttle stop screw, on the front of the UIM by the throttle cable. Set it to about 700 rpm, with no EL or AC load. Once you have that set, plug your TCS back in and shut the car off. Turn it back on and do the PFC idle learning process. Your car will idle perfectly after that if your car has no other problems.

As for the AC, mine does that too. I have heard from different people that it is different things. I don't know what to try, but on 95 degree days, it really sucks when it keeps cycling on and off like that, because it never gets it cool in the car.

easy fix.... all you need to do is get a 10-12 guage wire, tap it to te red wire on the a/c switch side and ground it to a good contact ground. this sould fix your problem. also check your a/c switch by turning it to half point. this works for some people. good luck.

Are you talking about the fan switch, or the AC button? And what do you mean by "check your a/c switch by turning it to half point"?

sorry about that. i'm talking about the fan switch. turn the *** in half settings work for some people. if this doesn't work for you, then you might have to add the gound wire.

What Darkside7 said is right on the money. I have been going through hell this summer w/ my a/c and pfc. I bought the car/ with the a/c not working, so I've been troubleshooting for a while now. The first problem I ran across, besides there not being any refrigerant in the system, was that the 12v wire running the compressor clutch on my car was dangling by a thread. After I fixed this only my fan setting 1 would work on my car with a/c. Now my problem was PFC related....

It would only work the lowest fan setting (Setting 1). If I were to switch it to any other setting, the A/C light would turn off on the PFC, the clutch would disengage on the a/c compressor and it would just blow hot air. I sodered a 12 gauge wire onto the red wire coming off the back of the fan switch and now my a/c works perfectly on all four fan settings. You should plug your stock ecu back in, and if your a/c works then you know your problem is related to the PFC. If you do what I told you to, you probably have a 95% chance of fixing it (if the problem is PFC related). Chris Ott at Rotary Performance was the one that told me how to fix it.

See, I have heard this many times from PFC owners, but nobody seems to have the exact problem I have, and it sounds like arutha has. My AC works on ALL fan settings. But after driving the car for 10 min, and it gets good and warm, the AC starts cycling on and off. On cool days it's fine, becasue the "on cycles" are log enough to keep it cool. But on hot days, it can't keep up. It has always sounded to me like the PFC problem makes your AC not work AT ALL on certain fan settings. Mine works on ALL fan settings, but just does this cycling on/off thing.

it sounds like your a/c system might be overpressurized. There's a sensor on your a/c system that will turn the compressor off if the high side of the a/c system reaches a certain level. This would explain it turning off in hotter temps since it will tend to runn higher. It would also explain the cycling on and off. It will get too hot and turn of, then cool down and the switch will allow it to turn on until it heats up again. I dunno though, who knows with these cars.
