Boring idle after starting

When My car is first started, hot or cold, it has a nice deep pulse. However, ten or so seconds later it smoothes out and sounds boring/ordinary.

I'm not too sure what option covers this in the power fc ? I've disconnected the isc and I'm using the air screw and the throttle stop for idle control. The car itself has a stage 2 port, so it should pulse all the time.

If someone could point me in the right direction here, that would be cool.

Thanks in advance, Karl.

You do not tune a car to make it sound like you want.
You tune idle for best smooth leaness to keep the plugs clean.
Same goes for cruise.
0 - 4 psi boost is for max power to help decrease spool.
Above 4psi for safe power

You need to read up on tuning.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Why does the idle change so much in such a short time ?
I do need to read up on tuning.

if you want it to surge though, find where it's idling in the fuel maps (map trace if you only have a commander) and just make all the nearby cells widely different values. then it will keep jumping between cells and have an unstable vacuum reading.

... and then you will quickly get irritated with it and want to change it back.

Cheers for the reply mate.

Its not really an idle surge that I was after. the issue is that it doesnt sound ported after a few seconds. On the stock ecu it did, but not now.
I might just leave it as I dont really know anything about tuning. I still would like to know why it changes from pulsing to smooth so quickly.

-Karl.

What RPM is it idling at? I find my car loped more when it was idling in the normal range. If it's idling too high, it just sounds like a car with the revs up.

I'm not using the isc at the moment, but it idles around 850. I've also removed the thermal wax rod.

I removed my ISC after my mods caused it to quit working properly. I have tried to get it to work after cleaning the ISC valve, but to no avail. Quit working after switching from 550/1200 injectors to 550/1600.

Thus I also have a fixed idle. But in summer when I want the A/C to work and drive at night, I set the idle at 900rpm with full electric and A/C load. With none of these loads, it idles at 1100rpm.

The reason mines disconnected is because I dont have a neutral or clutch switch, being that is was an auto.

Its been suggested to me that I could change the 1000rpm percentage in the PIM settings screen. I dont want to play around with anything without knowing what it does. Would this add/subtract fuel from the under 1000rpm range ?

Is there anything you could suggest I read to get a better understanding of the settings within the power fc other than the manual ?

Thanks again, Karl.
