Boost response - PFC related
Installed PFC tuned by SR. Went to the track this weekend. I noticed that the boost response was slow after coming down from WOT. I've heard that this is a PFC problem with the solenoids being left in secondary position after the rpms have fallen off. I noticed it all day at the track and most of the ride home. What is this really? And is it fixable without the Datalogit software?

Are you talking about going from WOT past 6500 or so, letting the RPMs drop but then flooring it again? If so, its a known feature/drawback of the stock ecu, M2 upgrade, PFS PMC piggyback since its just plugged into the stock ecu, and the PFC. From what it seems, it leaves the wastegate open, venting boost, making maybe 5 psi slowly. Pressing in the clutch for a sec resets it for me, or shifting gears gives it time to close the wastegate via the solenoids. Any known cures? If so, I haven't seen one posted or talked about.

Tim and REDROTOR1,
I can hammer down on my car, go above 6500 rpm, back off to near 5000 rpm, hammer again, and get back up to target boost REAL fast. I have logs of this, showing what the boost does...if I can find it in 100+megs of logs! If not, when I put my car's fuel system back together, I'll pull a couple runs off and log them.

The problem I'm experiencing is kinda like what Tim was describing. I'd go WOT and then let off coming through a sweeper. Then after the apex, I'd get on it and the boost would build up slowly. It would still reach 12psi, but not instantaneously like I saw before putting in the PFC. On the drive home, I noticed that it would respond quickly in 5th gear, but wasn't consistent in 3rd and 4th gears (sometimes getting the slow buildup response). The system is running WAY rich right now ... but that doesn't make logical sense of this phenomena or its inconsistency.
The PFC is a new one, if that contributes to anything. My AC doesn't work probably because I haven't re-routed the AC-in (Yellow/Black) wire. I'm wondering if this part of the install has something to do with it. Or perhaps does it have something to do with the boost control settings ... like the range and duty cycles set too conservatively?

Tim,
I had the AVC-R, and took it off since it was a little to much trouble at that particular point in time. It did help me generate healthy low-end torque. I have been using the PFC for a few months to control boost.
I need to get back in the car this week or next, weather permitting. Going through withdrawl at about 3 weeks of not getting to drive it. All I have to do is finish the fuel upgrade project (yes, for you Kyle) and I can drive it again. I'll have to re-test and let you know.

What do you mean your A/C doesn't work with the Power FC? Is that some sort of bug?
I DEFINITELY WANT MY A/C TO WORK WITH THE POWER FC!

Ditto. There's a install bug with the AC. The newer install printouts have slightly different instructions than the older ones. My SR PFC did not come with the install instructions (the wiring part, that is) so I decided to be conservative and just do the old install. And now my AC doesn't work. Check out the sticky on the PFC install how-to. More details in there.
Anyways, any suggestions before I start playing with duty cycles and peak boost settings? Anyone know if this is a PFC setting issue with the solenoids?
