hey guys... my car was tuned by steve kan! well car was overboosted one night on a reman and now i need an new motor. i was considering getting a ported motor with 3mm seals to handle more power. the car has the r85 turbo kit tuned to 15lbs and puts 400whp down. was wondering with the ported motor how off the tune would be? im not gonna be running 15lbs on it would prolly be 10. so just wondering how much the tune might be off i know this question is a strange one cause not one car would respond the same so any input would be greatly appreciated. thank you

 

First thing is to think about calling Steve. Steve should know if the timing he gave you would be appropriae for a street port and one of you should be aware if the map was ever tuned at 10 psi. If you guys did no tuning at 10 the map might be off AFR wise, rich or lean. I'm saying this because my street port motor did not like much advance at the lower boost levels like 10 psi compard to the stock port.

 

Sorry to hear about the engine. PM me when you get a chance and I'll look it up for you. Chances are, the map will most likely need retune due to a/f ratio (for sure), timing map may need a little tweaking (mainly on the split timing and possibly mid-range (max boost) leading timing map. however, depending upon the port you have, you could need anywhere from 3-20% more fuel. I know from experience with our stage 3 port, I usually add an additional of 15% more fuel to get the a/f ratio I wanted over the stock engine. My stage 2 port is usually around 10% and stage 1 is usually around 6% so porting could vary a bit
