Power FC 36 below C -- bad water temp readings
36 below C -- bad water temp readings
Has anyone had strange water-temp readings? I have monitored intermittent temp readings that go as low as -36 C. When this happens, it goes so rich it dies ...
Is this what happens whent he temp sensor goes south? Also, does anyone know off the top what voltage readings I should get from the sensor?
Advice is appreciated ..

Ordered a new sensor today ...
it will be a week or so before it gets here ...
When I dig out the old one, I will test it ...
it is the odd times at whcih it gives the readings ...
when the engine temp is going down ... After a heat sink of being shut off (15-60 minutes), and re-starting -- then the engine temp goes down .. and minutes later it indicates 36 below! Goes really rich and dies.
will flood if I try to start it while getting the low temp reading ... wait a few minutes, and the temp reading will rise, and the car will run fine ....
I will try a new sensor and go from there ..

As a footnote, I used the Water Temp Correction setting to change all three fuel correction values for the -30C range to match those of the 80C range.
Because the sensor failure is intermittent, & when it fails the car is already up to operating temp, I now have an effective limp-home-mode. It idles at about 2000-2500 rmp ... but it runs! & I can still get home -- and in a minute or so, it reads correctly.

be careful, PFC may not turn fans on at all if it is reading that low, you don;t want to rely on your 110c switch.
BTW, if you decide to fool it int he mean time as mentioend bove. make sure to ground taht extra wire by ECU so that fan is on all the time.
