Hi Blake, I've read all your articles on RE. I was wondering if the street port template you offer for the 13b-rew is the large "extend" street port discussed in this thread. http://www.rotaryengineillustrated.c...topic.php?t=44
I'm looking to build a big turbo high boost (25-35psi) motor. HP goals are around 700whp + with plans of a 100 shot of Nitrous...

In the next issue of MazdaSport Magazine will be the first of two articles I wrote on Porting. The first is more theoretical/analytical while the next one will be more a hands-on demonstration. Neither will be enough to do more than scratch the surface, but it should be a good introduction to what is involved.

We are actually thinking about doing some instructional videos in the near future, so stay tuned.
If this would be added to your rebuild instructional videos I am still interested in purchasing the lot.

Sorry for the absence. I was preparing to deploy our new e-commerce web site and it has taken up my full time for the last few weeks. Now that it is up an running, I will get back to other projects, like this.

I sent the 13B-REW production-ready intake porting template to the CNC laser cutting place today, so hopefully we will have those in a week or so. If I am happy with them, I will proceed with the rest. Still have not done any work on an exhaust template. Stay tuned and thanks for your patience.

NO! A rally port (maximum effort streetport) is very advanced and should not be attempted by anyone requiring a template. You run a serious risk of going too far on the intake opening side and having the corner seal tip out only to be injested by the motor and destroy everything. That said, there is no reason you can't take a standard streetport template and advance the opening timing to something less than "rally port" specs and still be safe. A template is a starting point. We try to figure out a nice combo but you can always make variations as you see fit.

Hows everything been going blake? So I was wondering are your 6PI templates going to be bigger than the mazdatrix ports? Personally I think theres are kinda small, and I am not really comfortable with making my own ports. Maybe I will just head over to the shop sometime and talk with rob/u about it.

I've never seen their porting templates, so I can't even comment. However, size is not as important as correct timing and efficiency of the port, so don't judge by size alone.

Good poing Blake. So will the port timing numbers ever be given out? Just so the people that are going to fab thier intake/exhaust could calculate the length of the system?
And I definatly will be getting a set of 13b 6PI templates soon.
