It's more like 350 and you run out of room with power.

Not to jack the thread, but yeah, it would be my first choice. The 4g63 has a couple things going for it that the SR20 doesn't, but then again, the SR20 has the benefit of the lighter aluminum block.

Although, the 4g63 WILL hold 450hp on stock internals, even a 7-bolt. Actually, I haven't even cracked the original factory headgasket yet... (not that I'm making 450 hp, but I AM making about 400, flywheel)

That's sick. I dont care for the 4G63 as much as the SR personally b/c everyone and their mama has an eclipse in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. lol. (not discrediting the motor by any means... its just too boring now.)

Don't know how I missed this thread. Congrats on getting the beast running, and glad the driveshaft shop I recommended was able to hook you up! Can't wait to see that thing on the road.

yes, the sr can make about 450 on stock internals. IE pistons and rods. you'd need bigger turbo, injectors. intake mani, rocker arm stoppers, cams, head port polish, and an *** of boost. but theres one here in charleston at 400 stock internals

"Internals" generally refers to the rotating assembly. The only difference is the "bottom end" includes the block as well. Nobody ever includes camshafts in either. Good job continuing the threadjacking though.

Err, no. "Stock internals" means everything between the valve cover and oil pan is as it was from the factory, or is factory-spec parts. Including bolts and gaskets! Something with studs and a beefy headgasket is no longer stock internals, that's why they are always used as a qualifier ("bone stock except for ARP bolts and a SCE head gasket" for example).

Camshafts are most definitely included, as they are practically what define an engine's characteristics.

I see Peejay had the same train of thought as me!

However, when you dump thousands of dollars into an SR20 on things like headgaskets, cams, lifters, valves, headstuds, etc. it's anything but 'stock'. you can call it stock if you want, I just think if you claim you can run 450whp on stock internals you should mention its with thousands of dollars worth of 'stock' internals. im not trying to threadjack, i just hate to see misinformation spread.

Stock car.
Pro Stock.

Stock is a meaningless word now, in some circles. I do agree that when someone says that a motor is stock it means as delivered from the factory with any replacement parts meeting factory spec.

woowoooo! isn't that sr bad *** in there? i'm the guy that bought his chevy setup and when he told me he was going with the sr20 i was very stoked to see how it would come out. before i bought his old setup i was SOOO close to putting a turbo ka24de motor in mine but the cost/hp wasn't worth it.

when he says that the v8 was relentless he wasn't kidding. i've changed many pieces of the combo now and it's absolutely insane. i leave stoplights in second gear because 1st is nothing but a burnout at anything more than 1/4 throttle. LOL regardless it's all about what suits your driving style. i'm insane so the v8 fits me.

alot of people here have nicely setup sr's in their 240's and the most power i've seen locally on stock internals is 300rwhp but that includes some serious cams and thick *** metal head gasket using some ihi turbo upgrade w/ power fc to tune it. what i like most about sr engines is their amazing exhaust sound!!! soooo menacing!

now i will join everyone else by saying... "VIDEOS NOW FOR THE WIN!!!!!"

So how did you modify the sub-frame to receive the SR - what mods to the oil pan did you make?
I'd be interested in seing this done also in something like hmm.. an FD
