Thanks for the advice, but seriously get a clue. I appreciate you trying to help out I guess but nothing you mentioned is even true. Maybe cam scoring (which is actually pretty rare), but its not the first bad thing youd see on a bad engine.

Again thanks for the input.

I would really like to see, and possibly ride in this car when its finished. You are close also. Plan on making any local meets? We have a big meet at Road Atlanta in July. Its called Zoom-Fest. You should come check it out.

I wonder why the last 6 or so SR20 redtops that i helped various people source all had scored cam journals and damaged head components. Blacktops which are newer have a lesser chance.

Of course it's not the first bad thing, because you need to take the head off to see it. If it didn't happen to you, maybe you got lucky or got a good motor.

Then again, what would i know about nissan engines.

then again...what would HE know...or the wealth of knowledge of the people within shouting distance...if it was that important, don't you think he would have already done it?

J, I ordered radiator, fuel system, mounts and all that other crap to make it run. I might do the harness myself, donno yet. Should be running without exhaust by the beginning of may. I got the cobra oil pan fixed too, should be running today and getting an alignment this weekend, had to drop the whole K member to get the pan off. (sorry for posting on your thread but I need to up my post count to PM)

Hmmm, I dunno about that, not sure what mazda sensors are different. Assuming the cables are the same and spin the same direction you could use any sensor that matches up. I just used the stock TII one so that i knew for a fact my speedo would be accurate, the tooth count is dependent on the final drive gearing.

Nissan ones work too

Stock FC cable and sensor. Had to oval out the mounting hole on the sensor a bit but other than that it was fine, reached the other side of the tranny with no issues.

Oh hahaha my bad Same answer though, stock FC. I had to loop it back toward the MBC then over to the throttle body. The stocvk cable had some supports on it already so I used those to keep it away from stuff, if you want I can take some pics tomorrow.

I used the stock SR cable bracket on the intake manifold, but I flipped it around and cut it up some, then rebent it to match the angle needed. Worked out pretty well, no issues so far.

Here are the pics. I relocated my fuse box back behind the strut tower so I used that as a perch for the support and put the other one on the firewall. The bracket and holder on the intake manifold are from the SR, just made them work.

First... Get rid of that Nissan filter and go buy a NAPA Gold one on your next oil change. The OEM Nissan ones use a card board end and Ive seen them blow out.

Anyway, awesome build. I found this topic from searching on google because I am putting one together myself and wanted to see what others have ran into while doing it. Its kind of nice to see its not really done though, will be more rare than all the SR20 swapped 240SXs around here.

I LOVE how you did the throttle cable too. I dont think that looks bad at all and it was a really good way to deal with the longer cable. If you think it looks bad, go look how Nissan puts the cable on the FWD SR20... its horrible, always in the way. One of the things the FWD guys will do is try and hide it under the intake going along the firewall, though I guess that is a little harder with the RWD one because that will put it really close to the exhaust.

My god, I cant escape the e-knowledge in this thread. Have you personally cut open a RWD SR-specific (aka, JDM part number) filter to check for the end cap material? Kthx.
