I was just wondering if any body has tried to swap a V12 into a FD.

I prefer the V16 so I can use the motor as an Arm rest as well.

V12=$$$$

Anyone that can afford a BMW V12 is not going to be putting into an FD. It'd be more likely to go into an Ultima, or some other semi exotic.

Those motors were only rated at 300 HP. It'd be unique, but I can't imagine it'd be worth the effort. Would the tranny fit as well as the T56? What kind of aftermarket is there for that engine?

THat particular engine would likely not be "legal" in the most technical of senses as the engine needs to be newer than the chassis (assuming it's not a 93, since it's listed as 90-93). Plus, if they can't tell you waht year the engine is, then what can they tell you about it's history?

Just too many complications to make it worthwhile. THere's already a kit for the LS1/T56 so that simplifies things for most people.

Now, figure out a way to put in the 600hp+ V12 that comes in the McLaren and you're talking.

I think is actually pretty much the same engine. Just higher compression, better cams, individual throttle bodies, better head, more cc's and better ECU, not program for joy ridding.

How did you compare it? By comparing the pixel width of the images?

I do believe that the McLaren engine is DOHC, whereas the one there is a SOHC.
