First off, I saved this 88 vert from a death at a junk yard. The engine had issues. I don't know SQUAT about Rotaries. I do know about Piston power. NO, I am not here to argue rotary VS pistons... I wanted to build my RX7 the way that I want, not like everyone else.
So, here are some pics of my little one. I just finished building the engine, and I got it in tonight.

The first ford 2.3 into a FC I saw was done with some angle iron mounts for a rally car... mounting it a bit higher and further forward, but it still fit.
These mounts (care of our friend Grant ) seem to do a much better job, mounting it low and pretty far back. Unless my perspective is off here it seems the block itself is behind the strut towers, but the pullies and such arent... But I dunno. Jess, wanna get some string out and see if that engine behind the wheels and front midship for us?
Also, go figure, I have my weekend after midterms and I see Jess here already has his engine installed... oh well, Im halfway done with this semester and Ill be following along soon!
BTW, for those who arnet in the know - the 2.3 is a very strong and reliable motor, and has a pretty big and cheap aftermarket. The only real issue with it stock is lack of headflow and the stock manifolds, but its not expensive to fix that. The most expesive thing you could do for it besides the turbo would be the esslinger d-port aluminum head, which is about $1K, and flows more than enough air for any turbo motor.
Then again, boports ported iron flows 250 cfm @ .500" lift, while the essy head is like 208 cfm... so who knows?
Ive already posted dynos of the big fat powerbands these motors can make and the torque they can, too, so I wont do that again.. but the bang/buck, strength and reliability of these motors cant be understated. The only forseeable issue is that they make a lot of power at lower rpms than rotaries tend to and you might run out of gear if you drag race with stock size tires in 4th gear, but its not hard to make a 2.3 rev (head porting and the right cam you can go up to 7800 rpms with sportsman rods or 6800 on stock rods with new rod bolts)
Oh, and in my exuberance I started a new thread to show off how well it fits, and then I clicked here stupid me... but hey, my idea worked, huh

Jager,
What do you mean? I don't understand what you are saying. I will post some pics of the entire car, it is very nice. Mostly, the interior is the bad part of the car.

I meant mainly the engine bay. You took the time to take out the engine (or it was removed before hand), but you wouldn't take the time to clean everything up. That's just the scene that I see when I look at cars in the junkyard.
Is that a blue bungie cord in the corner? Holding up some wiring?
Either way my opinion matters little to you and this was a waste of my time. I perfer clean work. But I'm sure it's form over looking like **** to you anyways (seems to be reoccuring).
Have a nice day. I'm happy the car got saved, I hate watching or seeing car's that are just wrecked. I hope your endeavors work out.

Jager, I cleaned up the engine bay twice. There was years of built on GUNK from leanking oil, and PS fluid. I think my flash makes it look WAY worse than it really is. As far as the bungee cord goes. There is a mess of wires that run right along the rrame rail. I did not want to mess up those, so I used a bungee to hold them. I'm only about 60% done, so when I get it finished, I will post a "cleaned up" pic for everyone. I finished installing it last night, so I was wanting to let everyone see where I am at currently.
