Has anyone heard of a skyline engine swap into a 3rd gen?
#26
this is the other engine conversions section of the forum, not the debate on if my car has a soul or it's uniqueness makes it king section of the forum....i think the v8 is a good idea, my fc blew it's coolant seals the day i bought it...demmit....no one around here is willing to work on them, and the mazda dealership here is crap...plus, with the 5k invested in the fc inluding the price of the car, i have spent less to get 300 hp out of my v8 than to buy everything for an n/a rotary to go there...

im not sure why you would want a skyline engine (unless you were in japan)
why not the lt1 or ls1 since you are in the US
so cheap...H7 Super Cars
Drive or tow your RX7 to our shop in Huntsville, AL in order to have the best "bolt-on" available to the RX7 installed in your beloved car.
All H7 cars are built to customer's requested performance level. Our construction times vary based on the specific options of the build. Many of the available options are listed throughout the website, but we will also install any LS1 or RX7 related equipment including turbo & supercharger systems, engine upgrades, suspension modifications and more.
Base building costs start at $7,325 + LS1 drive-line. The base build includes all of the following:
*
Base Mounting equipment package
*
H7 Cooling System
*
H7 Fuel System
*
Hydraulic System
*
Wiring Modification
*
Speedometer Correction
*
LS1 Edit tuning cable for a street tune
*
Battery relocation including new Optima "Red Top"
*
Selling old rotary drive-line for account credit
*
Installation Labor
The above pricing does not include any additional parts or labor that the customer may choose to have installed. For estimates on labor custom applications such as turbo or supercharger systems, please send your request to sales@hinsonsupercars.com.
While we carry a large portion of aftermarket parts available for the LS1, we can source additional RX7 or LS1 related parts the customer may wish to have installed. Lastly, HinsonSuperCars.com maintains a small inventory of LS1 drive-lines for sale, and we can assist you in locating a car to build.
why in the US would u get an engine you need to import everything on and claim it might be less of a hassel then a 13b or even a 20b
the price on a turn key package shocks me!!!

I was thinking about it, and here are the reasons why i didnt do it. First cost, its a lot of money. Second...the 2.5 gtr motor is built for all wheel drive, im pretty sure it would be hard to make a 7 awd, the 2.6 gtt/gts motor is rwd so maybe. Third is that i didnt want to run the wiring for the computer. Last is weight I didnt want to throw off the 50/50 distrabution to much.

50/50 static weight distribution means that 50% of the weight is over each axle while the car is sitting still. The moment the car starts to move, that goes out the window. Braking, accelerating, and cornering all put different loads on the axles and even on individual wheels. The only benefit 50/50 static weight distribution offers is to help make the car corner neutrally. That's it. Obviously, many cars are not 50/50 (the Porsche 911 family is a perfect example, not to mention the 41/59 McLaren F1, or the NSX) and they get around race tracks just fine, thanks.
Leave the 50/50 concern for the guy writing the text for the sales brochure. It's something to shoot for, certainly, but don't let it ruin your day if you're off by a couple percent in either direction. The car will still turn corners, and the sun will still rise in the morning, contrary to popular belief...

yes i know about all of that. and i just didnt want to go in to all of the detail because im pretty sure no one is going to be doing this any time soon. For the people with a lot of money for the trouble to get a skyline engine and do the swap they could just but a lambo v8 and have some one drop that in...some people have to much money. Yup genius engines dont care about tranny, your right tyring just to keep things simple. Wiring i know you have to run wiring on everything but i cant find to many gtr computers in the usa unless you buy the front clip. Wow you love to bitch. over-hyped yeah it might be "over-hyped" but damn how many other cars have a 50/50? can you name any other cars with the 50/50, i mean you know everything about cars right. My dad has a 930 so i know about porsches. Your damn right if i buy a 1.5 million dollar car it better get around a track ok, but ive never heard of a McLaren racing. I just wanted to be simple and put in my 2 cents. I know about cars and i can promise you i know more about skylines than you. If you have more to bitch about keep it to yourself, but if you wanna post something that you can up with yourself and not have to pick at someone else post go right ahead.

If you know more about skylines then what is a 2.6 gtt/gts motor? The rb26dett only came in the gtr, not the gtt which I don't even know what that is because it doesn't exist and the gts models vary between the 32, 33, and 34 series.

Thanks for pointing out my mistake gtr is 2.6 not 2.5. GTR is the only one with awd. I didnt mention anything about mating anything. Yes i do know about skylines for i was trying to open up a import shop the could legalize skylines about the same time that fuel imports came into the scene. If you dont believe me i can fax you all my paper work that i had to send to the govn.
