id say go with a LS1, more torque and more power possible. sure a sr20 fd is fast but thats at its max, a stock ls1 puts out damn near the type of power a sr20 will put out on high boost.

Don't take this the wrong way but Dude, you dont even own an rx7 and your trying to figure out how to butcher the car and put an sr20 in it. Come on man. Besides, the rotary engine that comes in it, has a greater power potential then an sr20. Granted i love the sr20det, it has no place in an rx7. The first thing you should worry about is how to afford an rx7 plus insurance in the first place. Trust me, from a college students point of view, its not easy to own, mod, and pay for insurance on these things. Your best bet would be purchasing a 240sx and dropping an sr20 in that. much better on the pockets.

ill go ahead and say it you want to put a sr20 in a rx7 umm i think your retarted you need a cat scan. The whole great thing about an rx7 is the rotary engine. When you smoke a v8 and his engine is almost 4 times the size of yours, that beauty. Dont ruin the legacy by puttin a sr20 in an rx7, beside like fastcarfreak said the rotary has way more potential. It would be like doing a b18 swap on a mustang cobra, just dont make no sense!! ITS A FREAKIN INDIGNITY thats just my opnion.

RE's are great engines, if you swap it out at least put something better in it (LS1)
