Waht do u guys think? rx-7 and an RB25DETT? Im strongly considering trying this engine swap as soon as i can find a really cheap 3rd gen rx7

It's dark like Poe.
1. There are no cheap FDs.
2. It's either an RB26DETT or an RB25DET.
3. I think it's a wasted effort because, as legendary as the RB series is, the engines fail just about as regularly as any other. They are NOT, as some have come to believe, bulletproof wonders like the Toyota 2JZGTE. You'll spend a lot of money to throw the weight of the car WAY off (if the I6 fits... kind of questionable...) and then struggle to maintain respectable power levels.
I'm not saying it's not possible, but I think it's a bit unrealistic. Spend less money to get a well-maintained FD and tune the 13B-REW for the same power levels.

oops i ment RB26DETT i accidently hit the 5.
Yeah theres cheap ones. ive seen some go for only 2k on ebay and a bunch of other places problem was they were all to far from me so the shipping cost made it not worth it.
im pretty sure the engin will fit ive heard of people putting a 5.7L V8 in so im pretty confident a 2.6L l6 will fit

There arent any FDs up that cheap right now but since i started looking about a week ago i saw one 93 go for 2400 in tennese and one go for 2050 in north carolina but i didnt really feel like paying the shipping for either of theses.
what do u think on the mods to fit the engine? u dont think custom mounting brackets will be enough?

your a little mis construde on the liter #. just cause a 5.7 fits, doesn't mean any thing under that liter will fit. The problem is its inline, so its very long, then the RB itake manys go really wide. You will NEVER get a 2 or even 3k FD on the west side of the US. Your looking at a $4k shell dude, there are a reason cars in NC and **** go cheap without engines. If you have $20k, youll probably complete this swap to respectable power IF its in the realm of fitting in the engine bay.

i would say that there is a possiblity that it might fit width wise, however to go length wise i would say you would either a) have to notch the firewall or b) take out the radiator support and make your own custom mounts for FMIC and the rad. Or if you were smart to make things fit nicer, do both.
