Direct bolt to tranny?

Are their any piston engines that bolt up to my '83 gsl 5 speed tranny? Or bolt up easier than others? Just want to know the easier of the engine swap options. I just dropped a lot of money on a new clutch, don't want to see it go to waste. Doesn't have to be a V8. I suppose my only criteria for power is that it is at least as good as the 12A. I don't care if a 4, 6, or 8 cyl. Thanks in advance... Dave

I have been researching, both here and elsewhere, but it doesn't look like there is a direct swap piston engine to my rx 7 tranny. I thought maybe something like any Mazda RWD car or truck (B series). A long shot, perhaps, but looking at my options and learning at the same time.

I suppose I wilkl be posting in another forum where to find good, affordable rebuilt or reman. 12A motors.

a wide block 4G63 will bolt to a T2 tranny with a b2600 bell housing. you wouldnt be able to use your clutch though.

What exactly is a wide body 4G63? Is there a particular production year for this engine to be a wide body and also is it safe to say we're talking specifically about the motor in the Eclipse? Finally, the B2600 bellhousing refers to that of the Mazda pickup right?

This is very interesting to me as I have a 90' TII in awesome shape (minus motor) and I happen to be a fan of the torque produced by the 4G63. Any info would be great. Thanks.

I forgot to ask, what kind of clutch would you use and would it mate correctly with the input shaft of the TII tranny? Thanks again.
