Blown Motor! What other motor will fit 20B, 13BT, LS1 PLease Help!

I have an 86 N/a RX7 and i rcently blew a coolant seal. since this is my 3rd motor in 7 years i was looking into swapping another maybe more reliable and more powerful without to many extra major installations. And one more question is there any way that i can test my motor to see the coolant seal is gone. Thanks

There are companies that make a radiator pressure pump. You remove your coolant cap, install the special cap, and pump up to about 14-18psi into the system. Then rotate the engine by hand without sparkplugs counter-clockwise, and see if any coolant comes out the spark plug holes. 3 n/a engines in 7 years? Were they all used engines or something? A engine swap is still pricey. A good rebuild is pretty cheap for a 86 n/a engine. PM me if you need a quality rebuild that will last.

great budget swaps that'll get you through smog are 5.0 or lt1.
the 5.0 is dirt cheap- i met a kid who built a 5.0 FC for basically nothing. parting out the wrecked mustang donor paid for the swap.
lt1's arent as cheap but they have their advantages (mainly the 6 speed option)
if you're willing to spend 6-8k then go ls1.

An o-ring and gasket kit including coolant seals is less than $200 from atkins. It also gives you a chance to port the engine and clean any carbon out. Make sure you get all new hoses and clamps and a good mixture of coolant if you keep killing engines like this.

Kentucky rules.

Ignorance is bliss apparantly for a huge variety of reasons...

Unless you have more than $5K to spend, stick with the stock engine and rebuild it from somebody that knows what they are doing (GTO for instance, or Rotary Resurrection is another) - vs. buying used motors like you seem to keep doing and can't understand why they fail. Start with something that is "new" and it will last.

What if..
Mazda and Suzuki codesigned the 60 degree V6 in the 626/Probe and the RWD variant in the Vitara. It's all aluminum block and heads, weighs 250 lbs vs 330 lbs for the 13b. The Vitara 2.5 liter version 99 - 05 is plentiful and junkyard cheap with 160 hp and 160 ft lbs in stock smog legal form. Then there's the newer 2.7 liter with 180/ 180 roughly. If it were my car and I had the time, I'd get a 2wd man tranny Grand Vitara and swap both the engine and tranny unless by some small miracle Suzuki has the same bellhouse pattern as a 13b. The car would be smog legal, faster than stock, and likely hit the magic 30 MPG on the HWY while keeping all Mazda (sort of) even if it would be a boinger. Suzuki even raced a stock blocked twin turbo 2.7 off road if future plans and deep wallets are a consideration.
