I don't understand why everybody is being such a dick to me about this engine thing. I simply stated my opinion and mentioned that i wasn't trying to flame anybody who had done the swap.

Well, I'm not being a dick yet. This doozy you offered up, which I am particularly tired of hearing, suggests close mindedness and a lack of familarity with converted cars.

If you want a Vette, go buy one.
An FD with an LSx motor isn't the functional equivalent of a Vette. It's superior in pretty much every measurable way. Find a ride in an LS1 powered FD. It will probably change your opinion of these swaps.

Go ride in a swaped car, then come back and vent if you still need to.
Pay close attention to all the negatives during the ride.
Increased tire wear in the rear, traction problem in low gears, racking up more miles every year because it's just so much more fun to drive. That's all I can think of offhand, but I'm sure you'll notice more.

I have no interest in riding in an LSx engine swaped FD.

(I'm dropping from this discussion, cause i'm not getting anywhere, as expected)

Just what I'd expect from a troll. I bet you've never even driven an LS powered car, let alone an FD with the engine. It romps the 13b everyday of the week including Sunday. Don't let your emotions overcome logic.

I would like to ride in a LS1 swapped RX7 and am thinking about doing one next time around. Not sure yet, but still, driving a high hp rotary powered RX7 is still very much fun. The only other arguement I can see is if you dont have the ability or someone who has the ability to make a high hp rotary possible local that can tune it reliably and know what they are doing would be a reason to do a swap. Also, the cost is a big factor as well when building and tuning a high hp rotary engine. Other than that, I see no issue with a LS1 swap

thats the main issue i see.

nothing wrong with rotary... if you know what ur doing, and if not, there is someone around you that does.

around my area, there are alot of shops specializing in mustang and LS1/V8 performance. there also is a nissan/honda shop that does great work. i'm not sure of any others yet. dont know any rx7 stuff around. but we do have 2 runnin at my track and one that i seen is pretty quick.

so if your area has good experience with rotary, then keep it if you want. but if your area is good with V8's, then go v8.

All the V8 swapped RX-7s should have a cross country road-rally and invite the rotary powered ones as well. See how many of each make it all the way to the finish line.

That's the best post in this thread.

Other than that, LS7, or a 20B if you want to stay rotary.
If I was ambitious to do a "V8 Swap" for an FD, I would go with this route.

Maybe a sound clip of this engine would get some people to pay more attention to this idea. Hell I figured the phrase "V8" would be enough to get some attention. (Shrugs).

It's a very cool motor. It's also ~$25K. I'll stick to my LS7 for about half that.

Engines and transaxles are only available directly from the factory. A deposit of £5,000 is required with order, with the balance paid and cleared prior to despatch.

Several of the Sports racer's I know have been salivating over that thing since it was first anounced.

If anyone has time to kill they should check this guy's build out. He's planning on using that motor. 360hp, AWD, and ~1000lbs.
