Anyone know whats involved in putting a 2jz in an FD?
Before I go wasting anytime looking at swapping this motor in, I was curious if anyone had an first hand experience? For example do I need to rework the firewall? I have both cars/engines here, just don't want to spend a serious amount of time on this yet( too many other cars 1st in line...)

If you are going to go to all the trouble of building a new subframe I think it would be in your best interests to fabricate an LS1 subframe instead. There is very high demand and currently a big lack of supply of QUALITY LS1 subframes (part of the reason why you have my car and it doesn't have an LS1 is because of the subframe issue).
2JZ seems like more trouble than it is worth. Givent the length of the engine and the slope of the FD's hood I can't imagine not having to rework the firewall (at least mildly).

Considering there are probably 2 or 3 of these running around in the country I wouldn't expect a fast response.
As the old saying goes: Where there is a will... there is a way. If you move the steering rack and correct for it... there are no bumpsteer issues.
If you don't have the skills to do most of the work yourself..... then prepare to have $20-30K+ for this conversion to be done by a shop.
The LSx conversion has few complications, delivers incredible performance, and the conversion is pretty much a bolt in affair with zero fabrication required )aside from exhaust). The Kmembers had a problem with a bad batch of welds at one point; however I wouldn't say there is a lack of quality ones out there. Personally the Hinson one works as it should. Maintains the 50/50 weight balance, off the shelf (JTR) long tube headers install in about 10 minutes, no cooling probs, and no bumpsteer issues.
My car pulled 1.13g's with the Hinson mounting kit and dialed in suspension/tire/rim combo and was one of the fastest cars on the track in the 2005 Sport Compact Car Mag (UltimateStreetCarChallenge) event. I'd say the car performs great.
A 2JZ conversion pretty much makes it a drag only car and the handling won't be like before. To each there own.

Yeah I didn't expect one really, can't hurt to spend 20 seconds posting however.
The more I think about it, I don't know if I want this car here that long. We've done similar before and it takes a lot of when you cut a car in half and hand make the front end....
