'91 13B - dropping in a cosmo 2 rotor 13B-RE
we have a normally aspirated 5 speed 1991 rx7 with a 13B engine that needs rebuilding (water problem)
we bought a donor automatic 1996 cosmo front end clip with a 13B-RE engine - complete with all parts, harnesses, computers, dashboard, etc., as well as a 5 speed type 3 transmission (sure looks differnt from the '91 tranny)
we've been advised that "they almost bolt right in - takes 2 days" - we don't believe that - we'd like to hear from somebody what the pitfalls are, and where one might find a discussion on this
for example, what wiring harnesses need to be spliced together, etc. - we need to create a down pipe - my old down pipe has a sensor in it for the smog - how do we handle that in the new pipe - is the shift lever going to line up with the hole in the body - looks like we need to make a new tranny support bracket - etc., etc., etc.
am sure somebody has done this already, and we'd like to not "reinvent the wheel"
we'd like to end up with a "stock" rx7 - behind the firewall stock 1991 rx7 type 2 - forward of the firewall "stock" rx7 type 3
any thoughts/advice/warnings most welcome
thanks

I do believe it takes far more than 2 days to swap it in. There is someone who in the 2nd gen forum who has a 13b-re and it's taken him a few months to a year to swap his in and i dont think it runs yet. I dont recall his name, but hes doin the same thing.
