Wasn't any cheaper and the ZR-1 was 20K more.

An LS1 Fbody with a cam can out accelerate said supra and is cheaper, and was cheaper at it's inception....
A cammed LS1 F-Body might pull a stock MKIV, but it isn't going to kill one that is modded. Why is everyone compareing a modded whatever to a stock Supra? The F-Body is a piece of **** and if all you care about is going fast in a straight line, then go for it. Then only good to come out of an F-Body is the LT1/T56 and LS1/T56.

Again, I hate to break it to you, but a turbo'd LS1 Fbody can make more usable power, on pump gas, and still be far more streetable, while coming under the current price point of the MKIV Supra.
What is you definition of 'streetable'? There are plenty of 1K HP Supras driven on the street... Then you still have a an ugly car with weak brakes, heavy and can only go fast in a straight line. As for coming under the price of a MKIV there might be a small reason for that. It has a reputation for destroying F-Bodys, C5s and Vipers.

Really? comparing price points, the Fbody is not only cheaper to mod but can easily make more power at the rear wheels... The suspension and brakes can take advantage of said aftermarket and ability to mount wide rubber..
How do you figure an F-Body is cheaper to mod? You are going to need boost to keep up with the average modded MKIV that is making 500+ RWHP. It is almost free to get 400RWHP out of a MKIV..People have made over 900RWHP on the stock block.

I'll take an '02 C5 with AFR heads and Cam with a FAST intake... it'll be cheaper and a hell of alot faster than said Supra. I don't call that domestic pride, I call that sense...
Hmm That brings you to what? About 450RWHP? Now haw is that so much faster than the average modded Supra? This is pointless anyone can make a turd fly with money. It's no secret that a small single will net you 500+ RWHP on a 2JZ. I Give credit where credit is due. The LS1 is a great motor, but the F-Body is in no way shape or form a better car than the MKIV.

I'm sorry, so you're saying that a stock MKIV runs .98 g on the skidpad?

I want to see that documented. I smell bullshit.

edit: On the same note, I agree, the F-Body is a pretty crappy car. Not a fan of the chassis, that's why my LS1 is in an FC. I don't argue the Supra is a good car either. It suffers from the same issues as the FD, that being overpriced for what it is. I agree it even compares quite favorably to a C4 Vette. However lets look at price and place it vs. a C5. Much less favorable for the Supra in that merit.

Regardless, this is a forum for swapping engines into RX7s, not Supras, or Vette's or F-Bodies, so everyone just chill the hell out and get back on topic. Damn.

Hmm, those numbers ALL seem high. I wonder if they're using a 300 ft skidpad vs. the standard 200 ft you see in most publications. All of the cars (minus the lotus, did they grease the tires first?) look somewhat high on that list. Especially for stock tires. Throw some R-Comps on there and then maybe. A 68.5 mph slalom with a .98g skidpad doesn't add up.

Are you getting what I'm saying here? I'm not talking down the Supra, those numbers just dont' look right. Then again C&D and MT both do some goofy **** sometimes.

Hey bassed on that list, I'll take the super lame Posrche 911 Turbo or Lotus Esprit Turbo. Those cars suck! Especially compared with such supercars as the RX7, Supra, and Vette.

HONESTLY!!!! There is more to a car than numbers!

Interesting how the RX7 placed poorly in most categorys. It must be a piece of crap.

What are you talking about? It did pretty well cost/performance in everything but speed tests. And what do you expect, the stock FD is slow. That's what happens when you have no TORQUE.

You use the toyota transmission, W58, R54 V160.. etc etc.

I don't know what a Monist is.

Haven't known a person to do a 2jz into an fc yet. I was thinking of building a bolt in x member to do the swap since I still want to build my 13b rew on the side. I work at a custom fabrication shop and most of the guys I work with are into building 2jz motors. I brought it up to them and they are more than happy to help me. Most of all they just wanna see the 2jz in every car they can possibly swap it into. Heck if they had enough time and funds I'm sure they would swap it into an integra. I'm not a big fan of toyota but I do like the way their motors handle. I was thinking of doing a 3sgte into my fc and race cars with a 2.4L and under but my coworkers get 2jz's for $1600 complete so its hard to pass up
