What kind of subframe did you use. I've been wondering
about that since you started posting. Alot of pictures on
your site, yes. Ones that help us udnerstand how you did
this though? Resounding nope....

Also what kind of transmission did you use? Tranny support?
Did you do this swap yourself, or did a shop do it for you? I
think these are important questions that are going through
alot of our minds right now. Nice build.

 

Ok me and my buddy brandon did the swap at his shop! i didnt take any pictures of the tranny mounts ( i forgot ). As soon as i get the car on a lift, which will be this weekend that im getting my exhaust done, i will be sure to take some undercarriage pictures for all you guys. The tranny is a 7m tranny the r154 it fit snug with only minor triming needed in the shifter area.The wiring was also done buy my buddy but out of respect for him i will not be posting pictures of his work. Reason being that he doesnt want everybody to know his wiring secrets. He wired it up in like 20 minutes no lie!! I asked around the south florida area and everybody wanted over 700.00 dollars for the wiring! I traded my friend a re ameyiya exhaust for his hks super silent which im selling https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=769805 (check out the thread) and he wired it up free of charge.. Thanks Brandon! Besides the mounts and the intercooler piping, The work was done by my friend and I. Its good to have friends that know who to work with wiring diagrams. Also there is pictures of the stock subframe after it was modified for the swap! go to my cardomain page and look for the 1jz swap page...

For everyone in this thread. the 1jz is way better than the 7m.

it is basically a 2.5 2jz. thats it. stop hating, your car is beautiful!

If I wasn't already going a different direction that costs lots of money, your car is what I wouldve done as my second choice.

 

IT'S A FREAKING CAR. Engines get swapped all the time. If you people hate RX-7's without rotaries in them then why the hell do you choose to subject yourselves to them by visiting the OTHER ENGINE CONVERSIONS forum?

As for the torque-less comment, I can't laugh hard enough. Obviously the person who made said comment has never driven a decent 2.5L straight-six turbo. The 1JZ is a great engine.

Screw all the noise, it's a nice car, good work. And thank you for releasing the caps lock. It's so much easier to read when the text isn't all caps.

I'm interested to see how long the tranny lasts as I've heard the r154 isn't the strongest out there, but I'm sure it'll depend mostly on how you drive it.

 

Thanks man there are alot of people in this forum that hate, but that only strives me to be better and faster than all of them! the r154 tranny is the medium sized tranny out of the choices that i had, I was going to put the soarer tranny in it but i would have had to cut almost all the back by the center console switch area. If it ever does break i will spend the 3000 dollars for the2jz 6 speed... but that is if and when that happens ! Seriously though, I'm getting all kinds of **** from people just over
the fact that I want to do a LT1 swap. It's ridiculous, I've owned over
8 RX7's and gone through 13 engines in AutoX. People who are still
on their first car or two need to stop chiming in with "how could you
bastardize.....with a....." comments their annoying as hell. Most of
these monkeys can't even turn a wrench themselves, it's ridiculous.

Hope those here don't get the 7M confused with the 1J, 7M's are junk (I help out at a Supra shop), 1J's are great motors.

Mine has been done since November 2002. It is a great swap and has a ton of potential. I did 300 to the wheels a few years ago running super lean on stock twins and stock boost. I could get probably 50 more HP out of it on this boost level with bigger injectors and a new tune, I am just lazy, and being a subaru owner has become almost as much fun as my 7, but for a different reason.
