wondering about the weights of RX-2/3/4?

I was wondering what the weight of the RX-2/3/4's was? Anyone know?

What about after swaping the TII motors in and what not?

Reason I ask as I'm curious about the possible power/weight ratios these little cars can produce

That's the weight of the car + it's maximum load capacity. I think Rx-4s weigh about 2600lbs.

Yeah that's what he's trying to tell you, GVW = Gross Vehicle Weight = the manufacturer's maximum recommended weight for the vehicle. So basically they add the weight of the vehicle plus the maximum recommended weight it can carry from passengers, fluids, gas, and cargo. The GVW on my RX-2 says 3190, so I guess it can handle around 1000lbs of extra stuff...

Here are the converted weights for all the lazy non-metric people (like me)

R100: 805 kg = 1774.7 lbs

RX-2: 950 kg = 2094.4 lbs (coupe)

RX-3: 885 kg = 1951.1 lbs (coupe)

RX-4: 1050 kg = 2314.9 lbs (coupe)

I'd be interested to see where these weights are from because all of the American spec sheets that I've seen list them at around 100-200 lbs heavier than this, maybe they're going by dry weight vs. curb weight? That wouldn't quite make up for the difference though... but I remember hearing the big thing with the RX-3/ Savanna in Japan was that racers loved that it weighed under 900 kg.

If you subtract the 400lbs and the heavy '76 bumpers you end up with something close to my estimate.

My RX-3 is very light. Its funny coz at the drag strip, i can push it with one hand while others need more than one person. My RX-3 is a 75 with small bumpers, insulation/deadnening pads removed inside, with SP tranny, rear end, tailights and rear spoiler. One day, I will bring it to a scale at the public trash site to actually know how much it weighs. I would be more lighter if the car is not filled with bondo.

I previously owned 74 and a 76 RX-4. They sticked to the ground on top end but heavy as hell on take off. With the RX-3, sometimes I get nervous when Im over 130 mph. I felt the same way when I had a SA. Much lighter than FB except the FB has a much nicer and comfortable interior.

My '76 808 Wagon with a 13B/4-speed swap weighs in a 2140lbs without my fat ***. That's with a full interior, suspension, lights, and the 40lbs impact bumpers. With 170WHP I managed a 13.8 on street tires and with an open exhaust it ran a 13.38 on tiny slicks. Power to weight rocks!
