will a FB 12a header work on my rx2? need to know ASAP thread2
as it says will a FB racing beat header work on my RX2? I would probably have to cut it anyways to add the rest of the new exhaust anyways so the end portion wouldnt matter. jsut clearence issues around the motor. Let me knwo ASAP thansk matt22
Im not too sure either but If you install a RX-4 13-B header in a FB, it will not work. But If you use a FB 13-B header to a RX-4 its fine. Its because the pipe for the rear rotor sits a little higher so it hits the frame.
So I were you, just do it. Our own labor is much cheaper than buying a new one. Besides, if there is a little rubbing as Kill No Cone mentioned, tell the muffler guy to apply heat to the header in order to re-align the header pipe.

I have modified a Racing Beat street port exhaust for an FB to my Rx-2 (with a 1985 12a and a 79 transmission and stock twin piece driveshaft).
I did not modify the header in any way but it gets pretty close to the bottom of the car at the end of the header.
As you can see in this picture, the smaill triangular heatshield on the steering system is very close to the exhaust on (extreme) right turns and I had to bend it a little to avoid hitting.
I did not want to do irreversible mods to my Rx-2 and I wanted to be able to use the RB exhaust on an FB again later, so I have made the pictured middle section to avoid clearance issues.
For cosmetic reasons, I had to modify the muffler section because the exhaust pipes were too low. I have cut half of the pipe just before the muffler, bent the muffler to the right level and welded it shut again.
Looks nice now and doesn't hit anywhere.
