Question whats the deal with the cosmo

ive been around rx-7s and around the forum long enough to know the story with the 13b and 20b motors that were put in these cars over in japan, but i know nothing about the cars themselves. i mean if this motor is so great, why is it that we only hear about the rx-7s, supras, and skylines. why not the cosmo?

anyhow.....just wondering, no big deal.
thanks

ryan

The JC Cosmo (the chassis that had the 20B as an option) was a luxury car.

The JC Cosmo was designed as a luxury coupe- they looked sort of like a Lincoln Mk VIII but with more power and (in the 20B version) a much more interesting engine. The E-CCS Cosmo was one insane luxury car- go to 3rotor.com for a look at Lance Warren's car. The E-CCS Cosmos were equipped with computer-controlled everything, navigation system, stereo, etc. etc. All of the 20Bs were backed by an automatic transmission. They make one hell of a VIP car, but don't have much of a performance reputation in Japan.

MORE power?

The Mark VIII also had 280hp, but more torque... It also looks more squashed-looking. A shame, because they are pretty fun cars to fling around once you get used to the oddball interior styling.
