what years was the RX3SP produced?

this guy claims to have a '73 rx3sp, bought from texas with a title that says so. that's what he sent back to me after sending him a message saying it wasn't. all the SP's i've seen were late '70s.

Not that they arrived over here, but I understood 76 and 77. No such thing as a 1973 SP.

Isn't the first generation RX-7 the predecessor of the RX-3?

First generation RX- 7 (1979) replaced the RX-3 SP, That made the 1978 the last of the SP's. Actually the 78's were discontinued in mid year because the first 79 RX-7 came out early. I don"t remember the first year RX-3 SP but I know they were 1974's and 1978's because I had one of them each. Way back when as in late 70's and early 80's. drove the 78 until 1989 before selling. Wish I hadn't but such is life

The SP's were produced in 77 & 78 only with the latter year 77's coming out as 78 models. The "73SP" on Ebay is not an SP. I emailed the guy with this info when the vehicle was first listed but he never replied. What you have there is a regular RX3.

RX-3SP's were only made for 1977 and 1978 model years. RX-3's were imported into the US from 1972 through 1978. There are many people that call their earlier RX-3 an RX-3SP(they are incorrect, but it is a free country I suppose!)

i'm just concerned for the un-knowing bidder that wins, thinking he's getting an SP. cause i know how pissed i'd be finding out after going to a meet, showing it as an SP an getting told be those that DO know that it's not, that i paid too much for it. i'd also like to know how somewhere down the line it was titled as an SP. thanx guys, i thought i was telling him right.
