Talking Wanting Older Rex Project!!

Thinking of buying an older rex. I currently have an 85 GSL RX7 and have had about 3 RX7's prior. But something about the older models I like. I have heard that RX2's and R100's are the best to build. I am not looking for a drag or race but something good for the street with a TII swap, or bridgeported 13b. So I guess it's your basic "other rotary" questions.
Which is the best?
How hard to find are parts?
Suggestions?

I live in WV so I can see myself traveling to buy one.
Help is appreciated

my fistchoice would be a r100.
then you would look for a rx3 wagon,then rx3 then an rx2.

rex was used to describe the rx cars before the first crx or wrx was ever built. Is it possible that the reason you hear people refer to only the crx as "rex" because you hang out with a bunch of Honda guys?

My first choice for making something fast and fun to drive is the rx3 coup because sway bars, fiberglass body panels etc are accessable, mabe not easly but they are out there. Plus the rx-3 only weighs like 50lbs more than the r100 so fo our purposes of discussion they basically weighed the same. and this obviously gives them the weight advantage over the wagon or the rx2. My choice is the rx3 coupe then r100 because tehy are so cool and rare and then my next choice is a tie between rx3 wagon and the rx2 but i would lean towards the rx2.

Ya, I hear rx3's are pretty fun, cool little cars. And late at night you can hear them rusting from far away.

rx-3 would be my choice also, I personally think it looks better than the r100.

I'd like to get my hands on an Rx-4 or Rx-5. There's just no one around here that has one! Damn!

My preference would have to be: R-100, RX-2, RX-3. I just like the smallness of the R100. Still can't find a nice one around here.

No both the rx5 that flame knows of and the rx4 that i know of are both here in WA state. I guess they could be shipped but I think it would be kinda a waste of money for one of either of those cars, It would be worth it, if it were a really nice rx3 or say a r100 but thats just a matter of opinion.

Any nice R100s for sale up there in WA? I always see them in the WA/OR area but hardly ever in CA. Mike

No on the r100's. I dont know what you guys are talking about them all being up here. I have never seen one, (i am only 19). But i mean i always keep an eye out and i have a lot of contacts and friends that look for the stuff too. But they NEVER come up. My friend used to have 2 of them, and both were in realy pretty good shape, this was back in the 80's and he had 2 rx3 SP's. 1 of his r100's went to the junk yard, it wasent in too good of shape, and the other to a friend who trashed it and then the car was never heard of again. He sold one of his SP's and the other is his race car project now. He likes the rx-3's way better than the r100. Any ways thats the status up here. Trust me if i saw them i would buy em.

I've seen probably 3-4 for sale around here or in the L.A. area, and probably 10 for sale up in OR/WA over the past 5 yrs. Most were imported there.

Hi, Guys.

I'm new here, but I'd like to jump in and say that The Northwest seems to be home to more pre-RX7 rotary cars than anywhere else. They run demolition derbys with R-100s here on Saturday nights, and there's an RX2 for sale on almost every block. (YEAH,right...) I have a '72 RX3 coupe, a '74 RX4 coupe, a '76 RX4 coupe for parts, and I was just given a one-owner '80 RX7 that I'm tryin' to get running. I have quite a few parts for pre-RX7 rotary cars, including some fenders and doors, hoods, noses, etc. so if you're looking for something, maybe I can help you.
