Top Mount Starter and Flywheels

I am planning on building Locost (like a Lotus super seven) with a rotary engine and I am looking for some more room in the foot well. So, I was thinking about using a top mount starter but I do not remember what flywheels work with these starters. Is there a specific fly wheel I have to use or can I use my aluminum racing flywheel?
Thanks

I've never seen a top mount set up but I know Quarter Master lists a different flywheel for top mount and bottom mount.

If it layes forward over the engine the ring gear will have the bevels on the front side of the teeth instead of the rear.

Well, if it was just he bevel of the ring gear I could flip the ring gear and make it work...I think.

Ask Atkins. They sometimes do top mounted starters on their marine projects and what not.

As for the stock setup like the twin dizzy RX-2 engines, the flywheel is a 30 pounder and the ring gear is at a different location on the flywheel. Also the bellhousing and rear plate have a different bolt pattern than '74 and later engines. They are incompatible.

Thanks Jeff, I knew there were some differences, yet did not know what they are. I will ask Atkins.
