Yo Wacky I know what you mean! While I'm not so much hook on a brand like you, I am hooked on cars in general. But for some reason almost every car I've built I got bored with and sold within a few years of completion. Built a muscle car 72 Nova sold it, then totally restore a 1970 Buick Skylark to original, that didn't do it, sold it, then I figure I wanted a road/autocross and built a 1991 VW Golf GTI, nope that was fun but, sold it! Then I figure a cool pick was in order, built a 1963 Chevy C-10, wood bed and all, gone. Now I'm wrapped up in this Bugeye Rotary thing, and it's awesome now. But I bet that don't last once it's done! It's a cruel and expensive world, the world of a gear head. I'm already thing of the next one, one of them boat cars. Maybe with a Rotary? Anyways whatever you build I bet it will be awesome!!!!!!

Rx3 for sale

You don't want to end up like the other guys....

"Man I wish I never sold my Rx3."

A few years will go by, you'll realize after seeing 2 or 3 510's and 240's a day that they're WICKED cars but they're not half as sought after as the majestic Rx3.

Sometimes you just don't know how good you have it until it's gone.

I'm going to either die in or with my Rx3.

Having those feelings TODAY......

Pulled out the Rx2, fired it up, pulled out onto my private road(no tabs/insurance), drove it about 1/4 mile, and it shut off. Wouldn't start, pushed it back home, washed it, and pulled it back in the shop. I KNOW if I sell it, I'll NEVER have another, and I'd never get out of it the sum of the parts I have in it. Viscious little car, and my son would FREAK if I went to sell it. He wants to drive it, and I know what kind of time and money it would need to be something I could put him in and feel confident it would come home. I am in your same situation, Wacky. Money pits, these project cars are, and we all know we will take baths if we sell. Its a sickness......

Did I mention the 71 510 my son and I are building for him? Same thing........ Needs floors, quarters, paint, etc...... NEVER get the $ back, but I guess theres no way to put a price on the quality time with my son.

New goal needed Here!!!

Hmm, Im sensing that you have goal achieving Boredom, What you need is a new Challange Something that's not that easy to achieve.
An FD will certainly be exciting, "Have you ever driven one" "Amazing" a true
Super sportscar. and you could take it to the track and race it
or
Here's the Challange you can find and restore an R100 " Im sure that will be a challange in itself" a real fun car to drive and Rare as.
Than when youv'e done that resto you can start sourcing a 2dr RX2 then RX4 "You already have the 3's then a RX5 an FC and finally your Rocketship Daily the FD
and of course a temperature controlled Garage . Now that would be a collection
and a true Goal for a 30yr Rotary fan and a Priceless Grandson inheritence.

Food for thought!

Datsun smatsun, Beemer Schmeemer.

you guys are correct. Im bored as hell right now and I feel bad for taking my cars apart to keep me pre-occupied. taking cars apart as in swapping motors, suspension and such so I can have busy weekend (islandsnow and datfast1 know what I do when im bored). in fact, yesterday, I took apart my midnighte blue RX-3s front suspension and installed another modified FB struts. that kept me busy for a few hours but I woke up this morning with a hang-over lol.

I will just let them hibernate for a few months and I will just run the usual pros and cons spreadsheet to make the right decision on the next project. and this time, maybe I will have the ***** to invest an hour or 2 a day to take body/paint class at a local occupational center. This is what Im lacking right now.

Also, wants to correct myself for using a FD as an example. it is a bad example as it doesnt fit my old school mentality and it doesnt require heavy tinkering and being creative like the old school. besides, it is useless to me since its not old school exempt in Cali.

thanks all for the input. it helped me a lot

You've built your fair share of very nice trailer queens. Time to build a nice race car for a change and beat your best ever 15.0 seconds in the 1/4.

I haven't chimed in but I understand what you mean. I have found myself from time to time getting tired of one project or another. I take a few weeks or a month and cool off and look at it from a new perspective.

How about a Sachs powered rotary bar stool!

That way you can have a rotary ride to get you back and forth to the beer fridge!
